I've snowboarded a little too so I know the idea......the issue I've had is the board is really narrow and my toes reach over the side......hopefully a newer board will be a better design.....

Try standing on a small piece of plywood with no attachment you your feet and have a boat pull you so you are skimming across the water on it. I've never tried it, but it doesn't look easy. Once you are up I bet it is a lot like skateboarding.

A wakeboard should be way wider than your feet.

The malibu is a bowrider design. Actually all wakeboard boats that I have seen are bowrider designs.

Yeah, that board sucks then. What helped me out a lot with getting up on plane was being used to having my center of gravity way off and having the fast twitch reflexes to re-center my weight. I was told it is like snowboarding on ice, but I think it is more like riding tracked up powder.

But it is specifically a wakeboard boat. The main thing with those is that they are V-Drive. It's like direct drive with the motor in the back. The steering is done with a rudder. A boat like mine is an ib/ob where the propeller actually turns from side to side.

Get a new one. I guess Dicks is already cutting prices on them. In a month or two you should be able to get a $350 wakeboard/binding setup for around $130.

Got ya. What's the advantage of the v-drive? The wake is more consistant even when turning? FOr general boating purposes I'd rather have the IB/ob so you can pull up the prop in shallow water.

2 guys at work both bought wake boards last fall for around $130. They said they were 60-75% off. They could be remembering incorrectly or exaggerating, but who knows.
