Re: Dumping the clutch
Spent the entire time chanting "higher faster" in my helmet.
Managed to keep a few of them at a crawl. Almost stalled it out a couple of times as well. Definitely past my normal comfort zone for cracking em up.
As I got tired they went back to normal... but for about 15 minutes that **** was mine lol.
Going for it again tomorrow.
I found I clutch it up hard, and press the brake late as I roll off the throttle. From there if I concentrated on not dragging the brake... I could keep it pretty slow and controlled with minor presses on the brake and throttle position.
I'm still not at idle, but definitely made progress towards my goal today.

Re: Dumping the clutch
So I had em slowed down a bunch yesterday, half of the speed on the video... to the point where when I over braked the bike wanted to stall.
Spewing my mantra under my helmet... (Higher, Faster... Straight leg, Lean back)
Only got like 8 short videos tho... Need to start recording them the whole day. So take this video as I guess the average of where I'm at.

Re: Dumping the clutch
It's anywhere between 2500-3k... My idle doesn't stay put like an F4i does, so I give it a small blip, and it holds at around 3500-4k for a second or two, and I clutch it then.
I've gotten super close to idle now a few times, where I wish I had the video camera rolling. The ones that make it look like I know what I'm doing lol.
I'm still working on trying to be behind the BP more... my friend and I have a running "bigger rocks" joke that keeps us pushing eachother.
We carry 2 rocks in our pocket to motivate, compete, and talk **** to eachother... as we do better, we get to grab bigger rocks lol.
We'll know we're on point when we can only fit 1 big rock in each pocket!
:YEAH
Yesterday I ended up with 1 big rock, and 1 little one... managed to clutch it super quick to bp and roll it at like 5mph. Scared the **** out of me. So he let me trade one of my small rocks for a bigger one... but not both since I didn't repeat it lol.
*Sigh* We're a bit nuts.

I get it!!!
Rocks are a great metaphor for *********
Re: Dumping the clutch
Don, your 929 won't idle b/c you probably haven't taken out the exhaust valve, disconnected the cables from your servo motor, taken out the flapper in your airbox and run an idle cable have you?
Re: Dumping the clutch
Re: Dumping the clutch
Just running an idle cable won't work on a 929... all of the emissions bs makes it run like that. What you need to do is underneath the bike there is an exhaust valve, you need to disconnect that and take it out. Block off where the valve used to be. I used a gang box cover from the hardware store, traced the opening, cut it and covered it. Use some Honda bond or something of that nature. The cables you d.c. from the exhaust valve, follow those up to the servo. D.C. everything from the servo EXCEPT the wires. Leave the wires plugged into it, but D.C. any cables that come off of it. Open up your air box and remove all of the guts. (the flap and all that ****) Leave your idle cable connected to your #3 throttle body.
After doing all of this your bike will be able to idle at whatever you want and won't move. I had a 929 and had to do this, pretty much all of Suicidal Lifestyles back in the day had 929's and we all had to do this.

Re: Dumping the clutch
I have my own motivation... there's a farm across the street that has a bunch of chickens. Every time I take a break I can here them and it sounds like someone calling me a chicken. Always mocking me and ****...THEY NEVER SHUT UP!!!!
