I don't know if you guys in the US have anything similar. As of my knowledge,
every American bike meeting is in sunny Daytona, or in Sturgis or Milwaukee.
Nothing short of sun and warmth.



But you know, Europeans are A TAD crazy too. and our weather doesn't help much.
Someone, 50+ years ago, thought it'd be a cool ( no pun intended ) idea
to meet right in the middle of January, at the German/Polish border,
just where snow accounts to some feet high.
And to camp right there, have a couple beers,



and forget that
you're basically civilized people.






This is called the ElefantenTreffen. and while you can imagine what Elefanten stands for,
don't ask for a translation. i have none.
All i know is
that's a real man's challenge. macho.
To travel thousands of miles through deserted, icy roads with no one around,
risking your collar bone at every ice pot, freezing your *** out on the bike,
just to get there, with so few of the people as brave as you.



I just envy this kinda bikers.
THEY are bikers.
Not for show, not for the bling, not to get laid.
it's for the sheer desire of pushing the limit.

Elefanten = elefants....so it´s the elefants meeting and those guys are crazy.

 

bet a lot are on beemers! you've never seen true riders to you've seen bmw riders....they are the true outlaws, ride rain/sleet/snow/heat!

i rode in the winter last year...i learned my lesson. the last 3 bikes ive seen on the road were all bmw.

 

That's gnarly... looks like a good time!

I've done some snow riding... not with studs out on the lake either. Pilot Powers in 5" of snow. Talk about drifting....
