Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

I'll give that a shot too.

I had a bit of luck last night out for a practice session. I was using staggered footing but not standing up all the way. I found that this is getting me more comfortable standing staggered. When I clutch up I try to keep all of my weight back with somewhat of a pull on the bars. I was able to hoist it a couple times like this. As it starts to come up I stand a little higher. Slowly but surely. I think I am going to set the record for longest time learning. Fug it. I really don't care how long it takes just as long as I do it right.

How are you doing your wheelies? Like what gear / speed / clutch or bounce. Just curious...

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

I was having little luck clutching it only, so I figured out if bounce and clutch, and sit down after I bounce it I can keep the wheel up and ride it out. I'll post pics later and hopefully after a while I'll get enough courage to ride it out standing

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

Hey, well, I've got my standup launches pretty much down, now I've just got to learn throttle control. I'm bouncing and clutching with both feet on the front peg. I may try the rear peg tomorrow so I get a better view of the front end. Right now it's hard to tell how high I am and I'm afraid I might loop it (got it so high it was wobbling a bit today, so must have been near BP). If it keeps wobbling I'll lower my tire pressure a tad.

If I had someone to video tape me I'd post up some videos.

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

Sorry to post 4 times in a row but I went out and practiced with one foot on the rear peg and it's a lot easier, I'll probably be doing blocks by the end of the week.

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

Props on the miler snigg. I got a buddy who's now starting to try standers now that I've been busting them out on him. It's gonna be cool when there's 3 of us doing long freeway standers on tape together. Him and my little bro are learning now.

FHL,

Quit posting until you actually do something good. I've read about a million posts from you about what you have/are going to learn and it sounds like you still can't ride a decent wheelie. You've got a thousand excuses for the fact that you need to ride and practice more. If you're learning or wanting advice then fine. Stop giving advice or predicting what you're going to be doing by the end of the week. If you get it great, if not you look like a fool.

It's almost like you're more interested in telling people on this site about what you're doing than you are in actually doing anything sometimes.

Ride more, post less.

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

God it's ****ing awesome, I just rode 4 staggered wheelies at BP and I had one going for like 5 seconds it's the best feeling ever, I showed this ******* in the oncoming lane a nice view of my titanium headers and he honked at me after I let the wheelie down and he passed, awesome **** man.

Brandolb, I told you I'd ride with you anytime man, I just couldn't wake up that morning as I was used to going to bed at 3am and I didn't want to ride tired. None of my posts are bullshit, I'll get some pics and movies when I can find someone that wants to watch me doing wheelies (obviously not my dad as he would be pissed if he even knew I did them).

Kungfu954, like I said in my PM just go out and try it, if you loop it oh well at least you tried.

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

Glad to see you back to that avitar KungFu. I think it's dope. Supposed to be going out to video today but like the other 1 million times it's "supposed" to happen something will prolly come up and no one will show. If we do I'll try to get some vid posted up.

FHL,

If that's you in your avitar then good job. That looks close to BP. It's not but it's getting close. Wait until you are riding by like 100 cars going the opposite way on the Interstate and have people hanging out of their cars to give you the :YEAH

It is pretty awesome but keep it safe on the streets and watch out for the

I'm going in again for the 4th court date Monday for a Reckless I got right after I got the bike. I think we're going to enter a not guilty plea because the ***** DA doesn't wanna deal at all.

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

yeh guys, i can pretty much ride em till the arm pump kicks in and i can barely hold on. also got first gear spreaders pretty well, just gotta work on getting them a little higher and balancing them, but its pretty crazy. twitchy first gear, sitting on the tank anyway, im yet to attempt a highchair, although i know i can do it. i have a feeling when i set it down im gonna crack the windscreen, ah we'll see. ill try and snap some pics of the highchairs when i start em.

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

Do you set your wheelies down smooth snigg? I practiced a lot after I broke my fork seals and now everytime I wheelie and set it down I usually gain 10-15mph just from landing and rolling on the throttle.

I have hit the BP every time I stand up now but I still need to work on my throttle control to keep it there, I keep rolling off too much, then I overcompensate on the roll on and roll off quicker and I end up setting it down.

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

I clutch my wheelies in 3rd on my 900 at about 60 and ride them out to about 135. my longest to date is prolly 1 1/2 miles. on the nys thruway. have you guys ever thought of gearing your bikes up a little ?? I went -1 in the front and +5 in the back it's so much easier when your geared up a little. my stock gears weren't worth a ****. went from 16-43 to 15-47 big performance difference.

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

I want my wheelies less twitchy so I probably won't gear it unless I have a stuntbike.

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

Hit the spot today for hours. Sore as hell. Practiced my staggered standups a bit and there getting better, not up to bp yet but im taking it slow. Im doing em in first now as well. Less speed and lots o engine breaking. My sitdowns in second are....well lets' just say that i can hit balance point on em. Way too high for my liking. Feels like im scraping but im not. Gotta get my standups down now. Got some questions maybe a few of you could answer.

For sitdowns, anyone else have trouble keeping your *** towards the tank. I always slide down and settle at the end of the seat. I don't think hanging on the bars is the best idea either considering how high the bike is and if my weight suddenly shifts my throttle hand.

Also, any input on how to help keep the bars staight on standups. I sometimes have a tendancy to come up or down with the wheel tweaked a bit. I think it may be because im not popping it up all the way with the clutch and instead pulling some...which is not good. I don't think this happens in first though, just second when im trying to keep it slow. Anyway it was a good weekend. How about everyone elses............

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

I figured out if I pull on the bars and clutch it comes up sitting in second gear. I am riding them out in BP forever now sitting, but I wanna be able to do that standing too.
