Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

Anyone interested in tires, so far this is my review with the Bridgestone 014,,,and some typical blowing of my own proverbial horn.

Oh ya and by the way, That Bridgestone 014 I put on the front,,, nice. I had to build a bit of confidence on it but I would say it's safe to screw around on it after 200 miles of scrub in. I was just gonna practice wheelies after work but I was on a really nice road and there was litterally a fleet of babes all hanging out by thier cars (nice cars, **** one of em had a Supra) So I was like Fug it. I hit the brakes and nice controlable endo. Rolled right by em and then hooked it a little and went into a 180 (well to be honest it was more like a 110 but same "dope factor"
If there is one thing better than a cheering crowd it would be the cheers of numerous hotties. I know I'm married, I don't wanna date em I just want THE PROPS. hahaha.
Later on I was able to do a no footer (of course my 954 drop kicked me in square in the tweeter when I set it down) damn I hate that.
So far I agree with the bridgestone 014.

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

I so wish we lived near each other KungFu! I'd have you wheelieing that bitch in days, for days :YEAH

When's your next vacation? Skip the wheelie school and just bring your bike out here and we'll get busy for a week

Spend the $500 on gas and hotels and I won't charge a dime if I get some endo tips out of the deal. Biggest tip I need is to get a damper and just start doing them again

Maybe I should come to Denver and show FHL what a 954 will do at 5k feet

BTW I just got a brand new camcorder with firewire so I should be able to get some higher quality video uploaded soon :YEAH

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

Hey...you just gave me an idea. Maybe I'll cancel the vacation in three weeks out to Napa Valley, CA and save myself $3000 bucks. Don't think the fiance` will have as much fun doing all the video of us all riding, but it's worth a try. Talk about a true test before ya get married Keep having fun out there guys...I gotta go drink some wine. Later--blade

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

Hey guys, just a little update, I had a great day. Double R Dan had come down from Dallas to visit a friend and he came out for a little bit, and it really helped me to find the BP and stay there with little to no difficulty. Now I need to get to the BP at a lower speed and I will be set for a little while.

I will try to find some place to post up some footage later.

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

RRmike,

That sounds like a heli-good idea. I need to figure out what I can do finance wise. I just might balze out there next spring. And ya bro if you ever wanna come out and and one wheel past ol FHL I'll tape it!!!! hahahaha

Well, I did get some practice in on Friday, my best one(only one really, I should say best attempt) felt pretty good staggered stand up wasn't very high up but I did hear a little tiny chirp when it touched down. Then something really wierd happend it took me a while to figure out what it was. I landed and immediatly after the chirp the bike started bouncing all over the place not like a tank slapper more like the front wasn't grabbing. At first I thought well maybe the front isn't truly scrubbed in,,but that's not right if I can endo it's scrubbed in. Thought about it all the way home when I got off the bike and looked at it, it all made sense. My rear tire is totally bald and I mean TOTALLY BALD!!! So when I killed the gas after the front came down the engine braking was causeing it to intermitantly skip as she slowed down. Sometimes the simplest explanation is right.,,,duh.

Other than that, I spent all freakin weekend moving after I got home on Friday. plus home improvement up the ****. Installed a ceiling fan and re-finished a giant piece of furnature for the Mrs. Got my moving crew (i.e. buddies) drunk, got myself drunk. Bought a ton of wood tools.
And my friends,,,let me tell you guys something, if you don't have a house yet. Learn mechanics, because wood work, plumbing, and house electrical is sooooo easy compaired to mechanics. I feel like Bob fukin vila. Which reminds me there RRmike, if you come out to Denver, bring a chic and a bathing suite cause my pad has a killa hot tub.
So once again I have the car today, I would have rode but I was up until 3am painting and no sleep for me =no *****, so I figure I take it tomorrow.

Dax,
your freakin avitar rules, nice! Speaking of avitars, I had a good friend of mine log onto stuntlife to check out RRmikes posts he was unable to read them due to RRmikes avitar, I agree. it is hard to concentrate on bikes when there is an *** in the perifreal(<--I don't know how to spell that and I shouldn't have to what do I look like a fuggin EYE DOCTOR) vison.

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

I only rode one day this weekend. Yesterday. I rocked it on the freeway with my bro. He hasn't seen one of my freeway monsters yet and he thought it was Rode it around my first real corner! Not a sharp one but a real corner which was cool. Also he said there's a cloud of smoke from my front tire when it comes back down stopped at 80 or so :YEAH

I said "it smokes some eh?"
He said "I'm talking a cloud!"

I thought that was awesome. I gotta get video

We went out to the spot so he could practice some since he's not down with the freeway wheelies and we were goofing around and I went to clutch up a 1st stander and the fugging thing went nutso on me Started rocking side to side BAD and by the time I shut it off and hit the brake it almost came down on it's side It slams down almost pitching me over the screen and I'm so far forward I can't get my foot off the rear brake so it's locked up hopping down the road for a second until I could right myself. I have a bruise on my right side collar bone! Not fun!

Bro was freaked out a little when I rolled back to where he was parked. I was too so I had to do another so I didn't let it get to me. Then I went back to 2nd gear's but there's a lot of crown on the road at the spot so it kinda sucks for riding long ones.

RRmike,

Damn man glad your ok. That sucks. How is your rear tire? I heard if there is a flat spot it can cause some serious wobble.

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

bare with me guys, i've been checking out the forums for a while but i never post anything.

i got my 954 in early may, love it !!

went 1 tooth down in front right away and started learning stand-ups.

had an awesome time on the highway in CT yesterday, spent alot of time in bp. longest one might have broke a mile. i know what some of you are talking about, starting to steer, friends talking about the "way bigger" clouds of smoke. i can't get enough of it.

about a month ago i had a friend film a few wheelies on a local road, let me know if this works-http://www.uponone.com/videos.php?id=2311

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

Alright guys, I've moved on to 2nd gear standups. My sitdowns are getting annoying not being able to see anything..especially at night! Anybody make a wheelie light?? Anyway, im doing the staggered footing and just need to get more confortable standing. I've been popping em up a little bit every ride. Tonight i went out and got em up a bit higher which spooked me a bit. I still feel off balance when they come up but im getting more and more comfortable so i guess i just need more practice. Any tips or advice feel free to comment (I don't need help getting the bike up...not the problem). And yes im covering the rear brake and using it too!

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

CBR,

Welcome to the post! It is always nice to have another. Props on the wheelie. I haven't checked out the vid yet but I will today.

SloppyRob,

Believe it or not I have seen a wheelie light before. I think it's called motolight. It's a universal mounting system with a toggle switch to turn it on. I saw a guy in some video that mounted one on the bottom of his bike and as soon as he pulled one up he'd flick it on. It was truly dope. Anyway, I just checked my bookmarks and I don't have it in there anymore but run a search for motolight or motolite see if that's right.

Could go real crazy and put some type of mercury switch in there and have it turn on when the bike launches up...

One really good thing about living in Florida and Texas is that winter doesn't start until January, and it's only 2 weeks long.

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

Hey CBR6rr,

That wheelie is dope man!! I like how the revs stay down. Did you bounce it in 1st or second? Or did you use the clutch as well in 1st or second?

Let me know.

Props dude that is sweet

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

Kung Fu,

Thanks for the kind words. That was 2nd gear, no clutch. I clutch up sit-down wheelies but I don't use the clutch for stand-ups. I can power it up in 2nd between about 40mph to 80mph.
