clutch problems?

i have a '03 CBR 954 with a little over 4000 miles on it. I have been doing wheelies a lot lately and today when i was clutching second like always, the bike didnt respond... like the transmission or clutch was slipping. after scratchng my head for a little while i tried to power second with a bounce and once it hits the power band, the rpm's rise like it is slipping out of gear. could i have burned out my clutch this fast? what gives

sounds like the clutch is bad. tear it down and see what you need.
probally just friction plates, but never know.
easy job. i did my 03 gsxr1000 clutch in 30min.

Re: clutch problems?

dude, it's sooo easy. there is nothing to it. it's just a clutch.
do not pay the shop. if anything buy a service manual, it should cost about 60-70 bucks, which is cheaper than if the shop did it.
trust me, if i could do it, you can too.

Re: clutch problems?

Does it work better hours later or the next day? Maybe you are getting your clutch very hot and it could be slipping.

My friend has the exact bike and his clutch burnt out around 5-6k, and he replaced it with a stronger, racing clutch. I would look into a recall if I were you.

Re: clutch problems?

sounds like the clutch. Do it yourself

Look at it this way. Me never having any experience on bikes bought a cd service manual for $5 and changed the clutch in 45mins. Easy ****.
