WD = Water Displacement

(not lubricant)

its works on rusty nuts and bolts because its very thin and penetrates well, its really not slippery

WD40 will wash away any lube thats left in the cable, then it will eventually dry up and youll have a bare cable with no lube at all. It says it lubes on the can but Ive been using it for years and wouldnt use it as a lube, the thin film it leaves isnt gonna lube **** IMO.....

And I hope no body here cleans their chains with WD40 and doesnt lube them after.
