need some advise
need some advise
quick question i'm sure you guys can help me with.I ride a 05 cbr 600rr stocke gearing is 15/43 i want to go up to a 50 in the back but another dude i know said to go 1 down and 2 up and said that was the way to go if i wanted to start stunting on the hwy can someone please lead me in the right direction.......
Re: need some advise
I'm not 100%, but I believe that your stock gearing will be 16-43. So if you have a 15 on the front already then you most likely are already -1 in front. Just so you know, every tooth you drop in the front is equal to adding 2.8 teeth in the rear.
As far as stunting, if your just looking to add some ummph to your bike and make hwy wheelies a little easier, then sure go with the -1/+2. If you are looking to start slowing your wheelies down then you would want to go with a bigger rear sprocket, like a 50. Also remember that if you go up to a 50, then you will also have to get a new chain because the stock one will not be long enough.
Hope that helps.

Re: need some advise
thanks i have already replaced the chain and yea it is 16/43 and i went up 2+ in the back so if i go 1- in the front do you think that would help my hwy wheelies
Re: need some advise
well i can do 2 and third gear stand ups but those are getting kinda boring so i've been practing tank spreaders but most people that do wheelies stagger foot them i stand on the front pegs
Re: need some advise
Dude, we all started off where your at, but take this advice seriously.....learn to use the back brake. The way I tell people to use it is to do this: your right foot will normally 'ride' in a certain spot on the peg, so for example you will always put your foot in the same general position. Now, here is how I try to help guys that don't use it for wheelies; take that foot and scoot it about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch forward. This will make it easier to press the brake and make it seem more natural. Now, keep in mind that when you do this, try it with your left foot on the left passenger peg, or staggered as we like to call it. Take your time, go to a back road and work on it. It will feel wierd at first, but give it some time and it will all work itself out.
As far as the gearing.....if your already +2, then just ride away.....no reason to worry about gearing yet....
