Need some newbie advise on sprocket sizing
Mostly I just troll here but need some advise, I ride an 05 ZX10, I've been doing alot of clutch ups lately and my chain and sprocket are shot (unrelated, chain is just old) ANYWAYS the zx10 has plenty of power but has a tiny *** stock rear sprocket (39 tooth) I'm thinking about just going 2 up in the rear and leaving the stock front sprocket.. mostly I do clutch ups in 2nd and 3rd.. never power ups, advise? Also stock my bike runs a 525 chain, but almost all the chain/ sprocket combos are 520 conversions, with an RK chain think I would be fine going to 520?

Hi Weaksauce,
A gearing change like that wouldn't be a big deal and would feel like a subtle change. In my opinion it would make it nicer to ride on the road.
The only thing you need to think about is your speedo- the gearing change, even though only slight will probably put your numbers out. You could fix that with a speedo healer.
A 520 conversion on a litre bike is fine as long as you buy high quality. There is two things you should keep in mind. Firstly make sure both your front and rear sprockets are sized 520. Secondly the chain will wear out a little quicker than a 525 or 530.
But it's an easy mod, good luck and enjoy the fun.

You would be cheaper and easier to just change your front sprocket out to -1
and keep the 525... a 520 is to small for a liter bike...
