how to air box mod f4i
Re: how to air box mod f4i
yeah i read in the wheelie sticky that running usually one quart over is good, and my manual recommending 3.3 quarts after oil change and filter replacement, so i put a little extra in.
Re: how to air box mod f4i
a quart is too much, the oil will get all foamy, which is bad. I run 3.75. You only need to overfill it if your doing BP wheelies, otherwise just run it stock
Re: how to air box mod f4i
I think I run 4 in my F4i.. It's been a while, I don't remember
Re: how to air box mod f4i
Alright.. Finally did this and the Idle mod yesterday on my 600rr... Everything's looking good so far except I noticed the oil light or FI light is blinking twice in a row then pauses, then repeats the cycle.. I'm wondering if this is a direct result from removing pair valve? Any ideas?

like with all of them, just put the stupid new idle cable in the throttle bodies and leave it alone. this works up to 2007 because we did it on tony's and it idled, pulled, and rode just fine with no codes.
Re: how to air box mod f4i
it's an ecu code. find a honda book and look up the code. My guess is your special idle mod is not healthy for the bike.

Re: how to air box mod f4i
and a quick way to cap off the old holes in the airbox, is to just loop that discarded #3 hose to both the holes(the long one on the right side)
we'll see how the old girl pulls this weekend. it makes sense that the engine breathes clean air instead of crankcase vapor.

everyone else seems to have no trouble with it, i'm not sure if i wanna do it to my 07 cbr600rr or leave it stock, its not a lot bike but it will be seeing miles of bp wheelies at one time.
have you figured out what the code was? do you need to leave the switch pluged into the pair valve in order for it not to throw a code on the 600rr's?
Re: how to air box mod f4i
ok heres the problem I have with this mod, is it makes sense at first to keep oil out of airbox but I tried it for a few days and realizied when I took off my oil cap that my motor has nowhere to vent air now? sure it keeps the oil out of airbox but where does the positive pressure go to? next thing you know is your blowing air and oil past the rings and blowing seals, think about it, if you take a air hose and blow it into a pop bottle with nowhere for the air to go what happens? the bottle will eventually pop! does this make sense to anyone or am I off my rocker? the motor needs somwhere to vent pressure! if Im wrong someone please explain why when this mod is done 10 minutes after you ride your bike and you take your oil cap off air comes out like crazy with the bike off? anyone

i cant believe there is another post about this

if you read almost any of the 100 clean air threads you would know that doing the clean air mod correctly does not create pressure in the motor it actually creates a vacuum and redirects all the hot oily air away from your air box and into your exhaust ..
when done correctly the crankcase vent tube bypasses the air box and is ported to the exhaust through a set of reed valves in you valve cover , the reed valves are directional and will only allow suction from the exhaust so this pulls the hot oily air out of the crankcase and will vent it and any oil that makes it up the vent tube directly out the exhaust instead of into your air box ...
are you sure you are hearing pressure when you take off the cap and not suction ?
if you have pressure then you either hooked the hoses up wrong or didn't unplug your clean air valve when you did the mod ..
the clean air valve opens and closes when the bike is running and will create pressure in the motor if you don't disable it ..
