Re: how to air box mod f4i

I did the clean air mod. to my 929 yesterday, and rode with it all day... didn't noticed any stronger idle or more torque...

But still nice to know I can't hydrolock my engine

If you don't leave your stock idle cable in place, your bike can and probably will eventually run like **** at stock idle..

Of course, if your ALWAYS stunting, always at 4k idle (wtf are you doing at 4k idle anyways? lol)
then it might not be a problem..

But if you cruise the streets, and run 1k idle like normal, then it'll idle real rough and shitty..

Re: how to air box mod f4i

when using the stock valve you have to unplug it so it doesn't open and close ...

I did the mod a few weeks ago.. I just got the t-valve at a local hardware store... the hoses are 5/8 of an inch so a 5/8 inch fitting is kinda hard to shove in there so I got a 1/2 inch and a couple hose clamps.. works great!

I also didnt really notice any horse power but just feel better knowing i'm doing what I can to protect my motor! Just my

play with your stock idle cable and you can increase the amount of pull at idle...

turn your second cable all the way down so it's not effecting the idle and set the factory one at 1100 rpm then turn your second cable up to where you like your idle for stunting see how it pulls on idle then turn the stock cable up or down a 1/4 turn and see how it effects the pull at idle ...

you may need to go up a little your may need to go down a little all bikes are different but you can dial it in so it will pull better at idle

Re: how to air box mod f4i

I'm actually just about to do the idle cable mod soon.. I have the cable, but i'm waiting for my '04 1000RR throttle assembly to arrive so I can do it all at once.. once I get it all done.. I'll see how it feels. Thanks for the tip.

Re: how to air box mod f4i

this might be a newbie question, but is there still a need for an air filter with this modification?

Re: how to air box mod f4i

Just got done doing both the air box mod and the idle mod. Bike is running great, had no problems what so ever. Bike was running a little hot... I think it might be because I over filled it with oil, but around 4.3 quarts is fine right?

Yes, you ordered it for no reason. Hondas like Honda parts

I dont see overfilling the oil making the bike run hot. Thats still seems like a lot of oil, but not sure. I use 1 gallon in my F4i
