my boy has an actual steel plate that he uses as a scrape bar - he has the exact angle - so that it fits perfect onto the ground and scrapes perfect. This is on his street bike, and he does 45 mph scrapes to a stop. stable as can be.
I think round piping will work just as good, because there is NO corners to dig into the ground Smooth sailing.
