fuel pump going bad?

Ive had fuel pumps take a dump before in the past but everytime has been a working one second not working the next..

what would any signs be of a fuel pump going bad?

just swapped a motor on one of my bikes, gave it a good sesh practice and is having a weird random lul around 13k under load.. hard to explain but its like the bike will pull hard until about 13 then just stay at 13 and not accel anymore hard bog, then sometimes snap back and pull through..

im thinking its a fuel issue? fuel pump going bad makes most sense to me, but could be clogged injectors? any ideas?

im gonna pull the pump and see if its clogged...

vacum hoses mis connected or not connected maybe?

input?

Re: fuel pump going bad?

Could be a vacuum leak somewhere... Check the airbox and all that ****

Try swapping injectors from another bike?

bad fuel/water in fuel?
what about your air filter?
Is is a full power motor, seems like it might be restricted somehow, maybe an import bike?

Re: fuel pump going bad?

i just had to change the fuel pump in mine started giving up just a little but the bike lacked power and got all choked up when you snapped the throttle open,i went through everything cleaning the fuel rails injectors air box filter and the like and didnt help, this was also just after i put a new motor in which was making me think it counld not be the pump as worked fine on the old lump, the symptoms of mine were just low power and not being able to redline very easily was like the pump responded a second later than the throttle so would run lean,
sounds like a pump to me swap it out should be good

Re: fuel pump going bad?

I've gone through 3 fuel pumps on my 636. They never completely quit on me but they slowly started to die. It'll hold the motor back and give you a bunch of bog and not much power. Might surge here and there too.

often times the "whine" from the fuel pump will get louder more noticeable, when they start to go out.
