Tuesday night at about 7:45 I went to meet up with some friends to ride. on my way there, I hit traffic that went into a merge. Some dumb bitch on a cell phone didn't respect the merge and hit me on the left side. I lost control went into on coming traffic somehow gained control and pulled over. Then this bitch had the nerve to yell at me and make it seem like my fault. My 929 is ok except for my peg and the shifter being bent. My left leg took the whole hit now I have 3 fractures. I look at it this way it could have been worse but, the weather in NYC is nice now and I can't ride. . . . Yo anything can happen at 5mph or 100mph. The weather is nice now, just a reality check for me and hopefully s few friends. . . .
I just have to give it up to NYPD the other night they did the right thing.
Peace. . .

Damn, seems like it is just getting harder and harder for all of us to ride safely. I could not imagine riding in NYC traffic
I was hit from behind at a damn stop sign last week, and I feel very lucky to be here today. Ride safe

that sux bro
I can totally see how you got kicked off to the other side of the road...
if she was coming more or less behind you/at your left side...and you are already pointed out to the left since it's a merge....then she hit you behind your leg and pushed the back of you bike out furthering your left turn and w/ your added momentum there you were on the wrong side
that kinda happened to me in a parking lot. hit my rear tire not my leg thankfully. I bet that **** hurts bad!

You're a dumbass!! She "didn't respect the merge?" What the hell does that mean? I know I'll hear alot of **** for saying this but after riding in NYC traffic for 13 years I feel I have a right. If you depend on traffic to acknowledge you and base your riding style on the ability of others, YOU WILL GET HIT!! I've said this to every rookie I've ever met, if you want to stay alive, especially in NYC, you have to ride like nobody can see you, and if they could they are trying to kill you. Trust me I've lost many friends on bikes to drivers that "should have" done this or that. Don't rely on the dumb bitch on the cell phone driving next to you to be concerned for your well being. I'm sorry to hear any biker go down but I can't stress it enough, your life is in your own hands so don't trust it to anybody else.
I have been hit on the left side of my bike and ended up in oncoming traffic. I was on a 4 lane road (two lanes going in each direction) and I was in the far right lane going around a right hand curve. There was a lady on my left that came over into my lane as I was trying to pass and she hit the front left frame slider on my bike with the right rear quarter panel of her car which lifted the front end of my bike up in the air for a second and threw me into a nasty tank slapper when it came back down. I ended up sliding on my back next to my bike in oncoming traffic. 12 oclock noon oncoming traffic in Austin. I cant believe I wasnt hit to this day.
The way he makes it sound, he was merging into a lane that had no room for him. If that's the case, it's nobody's fault but his own. If he was in a lane, and the lady comes flying at him trying to merge, I can see how there might have been a collision. But if you're the one trying to get in their lane, you should yield. Never challenge a car when you're on a bike. Common sense people

OK. . . let me set the record straight. It was 4 lanes 2 in each directions. The lane I was in had a double parked car, and I had no choice but to get into the left lane. Thank God this was only at about 5-10mph. For you people who think that I am a DUMBASS who ride in NYC, **** sometimes happens and that what was the message I was trying to get across. Hell yeah I know that when it comes between a car and a bike the bike never wins. . . . But I keep my head up and learned a lesson. . . .

I agree with "Riding Like No One Can See You" because truth is, most ppl don't. Lets face it, cars do not respect bikes. There's no way you can trust another driver to do the right thing or expect them to do anything. They are unpredictable.
It sucks that you got hit man, just try to take something out of it. When merging, it's worth letting a few cars go by until you get the person who waves you in...

dude, if he was in traffic, more than likely he didn't have anywhere to go. and it's not like you can predict that someone is going to merge into the side of you.
you need a tampon?
