kleen air on my 636-good idea!
Re: kleen air on my 636-good idea!
Mr. Farley If you look in pic one, the yellow circle goes straight from there into the airbox, but the other 2 go to the kleen air valve and then 1 line goes into the airbox. I'm confused b/c I don't see a direct vacuum line going into the crankcase.
Looks kinda like the way the f4i is set up on your 600rr too to me.
Doesn't look like you have a breather hose over the tranny on yours I didn't know the rr and 636 differ that much.
Anyway I just got an f4i and thought i would do a little reasearch on the mod for it too. It helps the low end torque on it too by doin this mod.
SO... I did it to my f4i and got good results on a much stronger idle.
I would say do it to yours wether you get oil in the airbox right now or not, It worked for me on my 636 and F4i as far as preformance.
Just take that factory diaphram off and plug the small vaccum line going to it. Then put a "t" on and connect the center vent to the 2 kleen air valves and don't forget to plug the hole in the airbox.
That's it! Yours is actually easier than the 636 because you don't have to run new hose and all that crap.
Re: kleen air on my 636-good idea!
Goes to my stock vacuum idle... it's all part of that assembly. I just took off that whole clean air unit and just did a T from the outer 2 to the one in the middle. I just started it and ran it... feels good, the bike didn't throw any codes but I'll have to take it out on the streets and see how it feels.
Re: kleen air on my 636-good idea!
I possitive you'll like it as long as you plugged the small vaccum line the unit was hooked to. Thats the one that makes the diaphram open but you won't need it anymore. I'm sure you already got that.
It'll seem quieter too but stronger idle fo sho.

Re: kleen air on my 636-good idea!
The valve has 2 big vacuum lines coming into it from the valve covers and then 1 line that goes out and to the bottom of the air box. And then there is 1 big vacuum line that goes directly from the valve cover (the yellow circle in the my previous post) that runs directly to the air box. There was not any little vacuum lines anywhere to be seen?? I think I did it right b/c I started it and let it warm up and it seems to idle just fine and rev good, so I'll take it out here momentarily and see how it feels.
Re: kleen air on my 636-good idea!
if i was there im sure we could figure it out but over the net i doubt i could help.........
its a long thread but if you read the whole thing i think you would fully understand how the hole deal works
it should make it easier for you to figure out once you fully understand how the mod works and how the stock set up works.......good luck brutha

Re: kleen air on my 636-good idea!
Well it does me no good since you are in FLORIDA you ****** brainiac!!!
Nah, I got it figured out man... it's A LOT simpler than a 636!!! Feels way better too even up here with the altitude!!

I did this mod to my '03 R6 a couple days ago and so far I've noticed no ill effects from it. It seems to run smoother and also seems to have more pull in the mid-range. It probably helped in the high RPM's as well, but this R6 has all its power up top so my butt-dyno wouldn't be able to detect anything but the biggest gains. Definitely seemed like a worth while thing to do.
Oh, and if you own an '03+ R6 and would like another free HP mod, check this out:
How-to: Richen or lean mixture without a power commander!
http://www.r6messagenet.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=15407
It's not as fine tuned as using a power commander because it will richen or lean the mixture through the entire RPM range. Sorry, it won't work on '02 and earlier bikes, it has to be fuel injected.
If you have any questions about this, start another thread and send me a PM directing me to your new thread.
Sorry to get off topic, but I figured the Yamaha guys would benefit from it.
EDIT: WTF?? I posted my reply to this thread and some how it's showing up as being on page 1 on this entire thread.... I dunno how I managed that.

Re: kleen air on my 636-good idea!
use the stock t just disconnect the vaccum line from it and plug it and connect the big hose from there to the hose from your crank case vent and block off the holes left in your air box ...i used a peice of 1/2 inch by 6 inch conduit and bent it around the out side of the air box
Re: kleen air on my 636-good idea!
I did this to my '03 R6 so I wouldn't know the specs for your 636 though. I didn't know the specs either when I first started the project... I just grabbed the original crankcase-to-airbox hose and took it to ACE Hardware and matched it up with the correct fitting T-piece. My hose was a 1/2" inner diameter so I bought 3 feet of 1/2" i/d hose and a t-fitting that fit it.

=====DOES NOT BLOW GASKETS=====
********************************
People were talking about how the Kleen mod will blow gaskets etc, it turns out its not the case-there is a vacuum of -1 to -5 psi at all times in the modified Kleen bypass hose.
I ran a gauge in a T-fitting and ran the bike hard under every possible cirumstance, watching the guage, when the bike is at idle there is -1psi, at idle wide open throttle its the same.
All through the powerband, decel, or accel, idle to redline it only fluctuates between -1 to -5psi vaccum, so no chance of blowing seals. It never came close to Zero psi.
The bike seems to lug lower, it might be in my head, but the thing has gotta run better because its running on clean air instead of dirty *** PCV gases being pumped into the airbox.

Re: kleen air on my 636-good idea!
Now maybe I read some things wrong (I did read through the thread rather quickly), but are some of you guys blocking off the tubes that run from the airbox to the throttle bodies? If so, why?
