High balance point on an f3???

I've got a 98 f3 and everytime I wheelie it i keep chasing it. I don't understand, my friends say im a few inches from the ground with the tail and i had to cut my exhaust cause i kept scraping it. Yet everytime I try and get to the bp it comes close but i always keep accelerating a bit, i can never seem to hang at the same rpms. I'm wondering if its since its a heavy old bike and my skinny white *** isn't enough to offset it. I've tried to keep getting it higher (even if that means i'm gonna scrape) but I usually start to get wobbles when I'm that high.....

Maybe its just me, any thoughts???

ive got an f3, i hit bp every time i stand it up.... from the looks of your avatar, ur there, and if not, your almost there, pics of me from the side show i might be an inch - an inch and a half higher... youll know when you hit it, youll hear the rpm's drop.. f3 balance point is great, i can ride it forever on the highway at BP (3rd gear). and when i do 2nd gear, i can ride em as far as the road goes... what gear u doin em in??

Yeah that picture was taking awhile ago, i need to have some new ones taken to see how close i am now. What psi do you run, like i said i SLOWlY accelerate but its enough to limit my distance, and whenever i get it higher i tend to get mad wobble... I'm like 10-15psi

Re: High balance point on an f3???

wow, i run 32 psi when i do highway ones, and usually the same for 2nd gear stuff, now when i go to my spot, ill drop it to like 20-22 for spreaders, highchairs, slow ****, ect.... what gear u doin em in, and how fast?? both feet front pegs, or left on rear?? i always do left on rear, easier to keep it at bp that way...

Re: High balance point on an f3???

First i usually bring it up from almost a standstill, then slowly work my way up through the rpms till like 25-30mph at redline. Second i bring it up at like 30-40. I always use my left foot back. I tried higher psi and have slowly worked my way down to what i am now, Any higher and I ALWAYS broke the tire loose, i was leaving 1-2ft black marks each time.

keep your weight to the back whenyou clutch it, itll give the tire more bite, an wont spin.. as for wobbles, i used to get em bad, but not anymore, i dont know, they just sorta went away, now i only get em when im comin down from bp on a 3rd gear, and its only for a split second... you geared?? try gettin a +2 ignition advancer, gives you a little better throttle response for playin with it while its up...

yea, its about the same, the bikes are pretty much the same so i dont see why it wouldnt be the same.. as for gettin it up in 2nd, keep your weight to the back, get goin about 40-45, and clutch it, im geared -1/+3 so my speed i do it at is a little slower usually. but i can get it up at any speed in 2nd, from a dead stop to usually about 65. in 3rd on the highway usually 70-75 and balance it out and ride it forever, i could do 2nd gear highway wheelies, but why?? when i can do em in 3rd at nearly the same speed and not so high in rpm's...

I was trying it today, do you just have to clutch the crap outta it or what? I think i'm usually clutching it from 5-6k. The lot we use is only open on the weekends so i've been trying on back roads and I tend to go left or right after a bit... stupid road slope.

Re: High balance point on an f3???

their were rear pegs and brackets going on ebay for $30-50 for the set. I daily ride mine with the -1 +7, my friend is like -1 +14 on his gsxr and he rides the streets, just don't do real well on the highways.

factory pro makes the ignition advancer i bought, its like 50 bucks off parts411.com, just gives you a little better throttle response.. sorta helps when your up, and just playin with the throttle to get to BP.. also helps with slow sh*t in 1st, like scraping....

Re: High balance point on an f3???

Watch your forks, keep an eye on their angle relative to the ground. With your lef tfoot on the back peg, the forks will slightly point upwards at bp. Only by like 3 to 5 degrees. If you ride foot in the bar, then they should be horizontal.
