Re: so what kinda gas you runnin in your high performance stuntastic machine??

I saw a big thing on this very subject in another forum. Basically, the manufacture recomends the BEST gas for the machine. I was putting 93 in my Katana, even though it only said 87, but I figured "what the heck." I did that for a while until I read some big explanation about why your bike will run better with recomended octane, even if it is lower than what you're using.
So I ran my tank down and put in a gallon of the cheap stuff and went to tow with the wheelies.
The lower octane made a BIG difference in power for me. With the katana it's always a little tricky to get it up, but with the lower grade fuel it took a good 1500 LESS RPM's to bring it up. I've also noticed a substancial increase in low end torque.
Try it out on your bike though, run it down to almost nothing, then put a gallon or two of what the company recomends if you're using something better) and feel the difference.

Hey, if it sounds like there's bearings knocking around is that my cam chain tensioner or is my engine knocking? I am running 91 and I know it shouldn't be knocking but this guy installed an Arata with Dan Kyle PC3 map that was tuned for sea level and is running rich, should I have my bike remapped or just put a manual CCT on it first?

Re: so what kinda gas you runnin in your high performance stuntastic machine??

I have been watching this post for a few days and getting a good laugh at some of the replys. Good reading on the links, but things that 76 and other companys won't talk about are oxygenators in the racing fuels that lower the burn temp and as for the writer that stated "higher octane burn hotter", its just the opposite. It has a higher flash point, but the actual controled explosion i.e. combustion is slower with higher octane and creates more power and less heat energy. Yes your manual says to run a MINIMUM octane rating of 87-89 depending on the bike. We (stunters) are not running our bikes in the normal enviorment. We are stunting in parking lots and at very low speeds. Therefore our engins are running at a much higher temp and detonation is a problem. Detonation happens BEFORE you actually hear it. Severe detonation is when your bike pings. I did an experiment last week.
I allways run 91-93 in my 900RR stunter and have ahd a few stalling problems when the engine starts to lag. It also stalls out when I try to do long scrapes into a park. Today I bought an octane booster and ran 93 in the bike. A noticable change in slow engine speed perfomance and the bike NEVER stalled in long 12's with the cutch all the way in. It nomally would last for 3-5 seconds. That is enough proof for me, thanks for the research reading..... oh yeah one other thing that you might have missed. The higher octane a.k.a. premium fuels have additional cleaners and oxygenators (there's that word again) in them so that the leave less deposits in the engine at high loads. Which we are at all the time in slow stuff. That's my and if there are typo's **** it, its too long to proof read.
Sorry for the rant.

FTP :YEAH

The manual for my R6 says regular but I run 93 or sunoco 94. I dont know what it says in the manual for your yzf but the bike will run fine with regular the only time you need more octane is if you have advanced the ignition timing. But fer real the better quality fuels are way better for the fuel system with the additives and **** there. You gotta be a tight *** if you dont use better gas unless you got some ******* you dont care about. That my ****in

well i persoally dont give a ***.... i use reg and dont think twice how bout i save money on buying regular and buy you a lump of coal to stick up your "tightass", mabee if ya keep it in there long enough youll have a diamond -jk- then you can sell the diamond and buy a "*******" so you to can indulge in the fine art of buying regular gas and then being called a "tightass" buy some guy on the internet!?
