need help with chain shiiaat
ok had a prob before with the stock chain it kept streching so i thought. so I went and got a rk gold chain no prob with it the dude told me i would have to tighten in say a few mile cuz it was new. so I did it and rode it maybe half a mile threw up two cheezy wheelies and got home and it was way looser than it was a few mins. before. is that normal? why does it keep doing this? PLEASE HELP i dont want to fawk this new chain up too.

concretslider,
You could be overtightening the chain. Due to a modern sportbike's geometry, the chain will tighten as the suspension compresses. If you overtighten it to the point there is no slack when the suspension is compressed (especially as far as it is when all the weight is on the rear wheel), there will be huge forces applied to it that no chain is designed to withstand. To avoid this, make sure you have 1 1/2 - 2" of total play- top to bottom(measured on the bottom side- underneath the swingarm) with the bike sitting straight up- off the kick stand.
The other probelm you may be having is the chain isn't rated for your bike. Just because its gold doesn't mean its any stronger than anything else. What model RK did you get and what are you riding?

Oh- And another trick to setting and keeping the correct tension--> On many bikes, after you set the tension and tighten the axle nut and check the tension again you will find it has changed. To avoid this, after you adjust it and set it, put a wrench or socket handle in between the chain and sprocket on the top side, and pull backwards on the wheel as you tighten the axle with your other hand. This will draw and keep forward tension on the aduster and keep it from changing on you. So you no longer have to guess at the slack hoping that it will be correct when you tighten everything up.
