Will a 98 ZX9 motor bolt in a 96ZX9?

i think it has different mounts...a 97 motor will though, not that it helps haha

Are you sure, only because I found a 98 for pretty cheap....and I need a motor asap. Well what about the internals are they the same? I could just swap the parts that I need.

Any help is appreciated

why dont you just put the new engine near you bike and look
take out your old **** (seeing how its no good right) and compare the two engines and the mounts. ya might just have to make new mounts or sumthin naw mean. thats what id do seeing how its snowing where i am

a 98-99 motor will not bolt in to a 95-97 zx9.what will work is a 93-95 zx7 motor not really the horse power yor looking for but it will work.

in 98 they had the new body style come out, so the 94-97 style is totally different. will not fit son

yeah i'm pretty sure they wont bolt in i just looked at the measurements and its a little bit wider.

Well the other motor is in Buffalo....almost 4hours away kinda hate to waste a day just to compare motors...zx-7 will fit though huh? Might have to do that...It's all about the gear anyways

It wont fit. The ZX9s were completely redone in 98.

Like they said, no it will not fit. Nor will parts from one to the other.
You'll lose a minimum of 10 rwhp with a ZX7 motor and with a 475 lbs '96 ZX9R, every pony helps.
PM me, I will ask someone I know tomorrw to see if they still have a '97 motor but it is most likely long gone by now.

yeah it definatly wont fit but this guy that does all my work can build you a hell of a motor he builds sprint car motors which are all jap bike motors hes just starting do work on outsiders stuff now that he dont race sprint cars any more let me know his just oustside of buffalo

What killed your old engine?? They're fairly strong so I'm guessing it's something serious..I know they're a heavy bike but is it just me or are they a bi^%h to hoist the front wheel?
