The engine on my ZX7 is shot and I have heard rumors that with a few mods the ZX9 can fit. I found a 2001 ZX9 motor does anyone know for sure if this will work. :YEAH

 

I have personally done the swap, It will fit, but does not just bolt right in. I ended up fabricating brackets, mounts had tons of carb issues clearance issues...It ended up working but was WAY more of a hassell than it was worth. There is a web-site that has a DETAILED guide on everything that has to be done, and pictured step by step instructions on what to do I will see if I can find it, and a 2001 will not work, it has to be the earlyer model bike(I think it's that era of bike, the new ones won't work.)

 

Thanks I have a 98 ZX7. What year of a ZX9 engine will fit if not the 2001?

 

For ZX9 I know the 98/99/00 all are the same engine would that be the right one?

 

im rocking a 96 ZX7R,ive thought about doing this but ill prolly just swap it for another zx7 motor.

 

I believe you need an older 90's zx9 motor

 

Yep i think it has to be an early/mid 90s motor 98+ wont work

 

so if i pick up a 98 or down zx9r motor what else will i need to pop it in my zx7r.
