Front fork "wheelie" setting question....

Do the fork settings on a 99 CBR F4 affect its ability to get a wheelie up? A friend, who go figure does not even OWN a bike, has managed to get me wondering about this. He claims that even if you clutch or power, the fork settings can make it harder or easier to do it! I dont see how it could make a difference clutching it, but would different setting make it easier for the old on off on power thing?

I'd say stock is best. If you bought the bike used, it probably isn't stock anymore though. I'm not a big pimp stunter (more of just a "tricker") but I've often asked what suspension settings they were using and everyone says "stock".

if your bouncing you can make it softer but have the rebound up so it comes up faster other then that i dont think it should affect it that much if your just clutching

Softer compression and rebound would help bounce it up. Softer compression would let the forks compress more and the softer rebound would let the forks push the front endup faster.

It would probably suck for every other aspect of riding, but it would be slightly esayer to bounce up a wheelie.

Depends on how you bring it up..........if you clutch it, it has nothing to do with it!

the front forks don't have much to do with getting a wheelie up. However the rear shock does. If you stifffen up your rear suspension the bike while not squat as much and come up easier.

I found that it helps having the compression soft on the front and stiff in the back. i could power up 4th gear standups on my 900rr no problem. it was geared 1 down and 2 up though.

That is what I am starting to wonder. One of the guys on the board said that a lot of times when you buy a used bike, wich is what i have, the previous owner will have changed the suspention setting around. I have no idea what the stock gearing on a 99 cbr 600F4 is supposed to be like
