Is my method safe?
Is my method safe?
I'm an older guy without stunt ambitions but I want to learn how the bike reacts and verify that I have a good seating for acceleration.
I got a Kawasaki z900, 2021. Sometimes I turn off traction control (ktrc) and roll about 20 kph (12.5 mph) in first gear with clutch pressed. I rev to about 5000 rpm and dump the clutch. The bike rises a little on the front fork but the front wheel stays on the ground. I usually try to keep the throttle at the same rev after dumpning the clutch.
As I get more used to this feeling I may increase revs to about 6-7000 before I dump the clutch. I expect to see a small baby wheelie then.
Sometimes I do the same thing in second gear at about 30 mph and dump the clutch at about 6000 rpm.
Always cover the rear brake.
So I gradually increase the revs to get used to the bike's reaction. Is this a good and safe way to learn control during sudden acceleration and the front getting light and maybe lift the front wheel an inch or two?
My intention was to put this in "help and how to". Sorry if this failed.
