f4i engine rebuild...seized AGAIN?!

so I paid a mechanic to rebuild the motor awhile ago. new piston rings, pistons, bearing, journals...etc..etc

I mounted it in the frame and threw the covers on but never had time to install it. (throttle bodies, swing-arm..etc...))

so the motor sat for 3-4 months...last night i had some time, so i threw a 14mm to spin the crank and it wouldn't turn!

i hooked up a batt to the starter, and it just clicks....13v juice.

WTF? please tell me there isn't some rule about having to turn on the bike right after a rebuild

Re: f4i engine rebuild...seized AGAIN?!

pull the plugs out and see if it will turn over if it does then you may have water or gas in one or more of the cylinders if it doesnt then you are gonna have to take it apart and see why

definitely try this first. but if you use the starter and there is oil or gas in the cylinders you better step back or you'll get a face full

+1 it should turn really easily without the plugs in it

Just curious dirty, is this a motor you spun a rod bearing in? if so was it bad enough to knock?
If it did spin a rod bearing, did you get a new crank? OR have him polish the stock crank??

Just curious, as I have my friends 600rr motor sitting in my garage, with a spun rod bearing.. Not bad enough to knock, his bike just simply died, and wouldn't turn over again. I can still spin the motor with TONs of force using a wrench on the crank, but the oil was FILLED with gold metal particles.. Wondering if we could rebuild it

dude my motor was wayy ahead of yours...it knocked and blew going 140mph...lots of metal shaving.

NOTE: STOP SPINNING IT WITH FORCE....the more you turn that ******, the more damage you will do. i did it to 2 motors, i know. lol

got a new crank, polished the cylinders (the whole block actually)...new pistors, rings...etc...etc.

Re: f4i engine rebuild...seized AGAIN?!

p.s. it can't be gas.....i never had a gas tank...or even throttle bodies hooked up to it.

and i don't see where water would come from.

anyway, i'll pull out the pluts tonight and see wats up.

Re: f4i engine rebuild...seized AGAIN?!

lol i didnt know this thread exist til i look.. well i got a lock up motor on a gs500.. dont ask how, i brought it like that.. i got it runnin then it knocks so bad then it just click n got it lock up.. wont turn at all.. so i gotta tear it apart.. the price i brought is 500 bucks, its 2004 gs500f.. i m makin it into a e model.. i hate the flaring....it look so white n nerdy with me ridin it.. but anyway, if it wont turn at all, most likely u gotta tear it down.. take it back, u still got warranty on it? if not.. then sue em.. i know if its rebuild, it would crank over.. if its not, its locked.. but maybe its what omr says.. water n such.. u just gotta do it urself..
