It's hard to tell, and I'm not sure, but it almost looks like the oil pressure light is on.. And with the bike in that posisition, I'm pretty sure it should be on..

And if it is in fact on, that means your crank bearings, cams, everything isn't seeing any oil pressure.. Which is TERRIBLE on your bike..

But if your oil pressure light isn't on, then your gravy. I just don't see how it couldn't be on, I run almost a FULL quart over filled and still lose pressure instantly on the side

Re: f4i engine rebuild...seized AGAIN?!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

i'm not even gonna admit to that being me...damn you for finding that video

anyway, that was almost 2 years ago, so no it's not why my bike is fucked up now. well maybe partially.

got working on the bike last night...
took out both covers, clutch plates, stator, head cover, cam chain tentioner, and plugs.

I poured in 5 quarts of oil form the top of the head. (not into the plugs) waited 15 minutes

then

hooked up a 1/2 inch drive to the bolt that spins the crank (on the clutch side) gave it a 1/4 turn (clockwise) and all it did was tighten the bolt....i stopped cause I had a feeling i weakened the bolt & it was gonna snap.

the thing crank did not move AT ALL. not even a ******* millimeter.

i plan to pour another 5 quarts of oil (5/30) till the whole motor is filled with oil (so i get oil sitting in the cylinders), let it sit for 1-2 days, then drain and try to spin this ****** again.

suggestions? ...few peeps said to pour oil/anti-seize in the park plug holes...should I?

p.s. I threw on a swing-arm and a tire...then tried push starting it, and the tire just skid. stupid/smart?

Re: f4i engine rebuild...seized AGAIN?!

did you pull the plugs out of it yet ? turning it by that big nut in the center of the clutch basket probably wont work at all especially if you still have plugs in it

Yes u na pour some oil down the spark plug holes ( take plugs out first)I would go to wal mart and buy some Mystory oil and dump some of that in the cylinders let sit for a day then try and turn it over.. Leave the plugs out

1st off, i wasn't turning it by that nut,...i was turning it by the little bolt that the bottom of the cam chain components together.

and yes, if you read above, i mentioned that i did infact take the plugs out.

p.s. the pistons are stuck at EXACTLY (by the millimiter) @ TDC. any relevance here?

Re: f4i engine rebuild...seized AGAIN?!

put a lil tranny fluid in the cylenders through the spark plug holes and let it sit for a couple hours and turn in it over bye hand and see if that works.....did you try turning the motor over when you got it back for the shop

yes, it spun after i took it out of the shop.

i'll try that tomorrow.

for now, i left the 8 quarts of oil in there...and laid the bike down on the right side...hoping it would get oil to underneath the pistons....gonna flip it to the other side in a few hours.

haha good luck mang, you're in for alot of fun

UPDATE:
i took off the head last night...took about 10 minutes, (damn i'm getting good )
beleive it or not, the hardest part was taking off the ******* throttle bodies, took 3 guys to yank that **** off (yes, i loosed the screws)

anyway, got to the pistons, they look fine at TDC...valves look fine too, no punch marks so I think they are all straight.

poured oil in the middle 2 pistons and let it sit for now.

NOTE: i can move the pistons back and for exactly 1 millimiter both ways, but no more than that. (using the the bolt in the clutch cover and ratcheting driver)

one of my friends said to put it on the bar, open the oil pan, and loosen the rod bolts, should I try this?

any OTHER ideas?

Re: f4i engine rebuild...seized AGAIN?!

sounds like the tranny is stuck in two gears at the same time .....well now that i think about it if you have the clutch out that wouldnt stop the motor from turning over would it ?

is the fly wheel stuck on some thing ? like a dropped bolt or the starter ? im just shooting at stars now ...

nope, took the stator cover out, including the tiny gear that connects the starter to the motor.

also tried:

1. sat on the bike, had a friend push the bike to 15-20mph, pop it in 1st, and 2nd, nothing...tire just skids.

2. with 3 other dudes, one person on each side, tried jerking the bike front and back to try to get the wheel to move, NADA! ...my baby just kept doing what looked like pow pow wheelies and bunny hops

p.s. keep shooting OMR, we'll eventually hit it

well if the tranny is going into two gears at the same towing it wont turn the motor but if you had the clutch apart and it still wouldnt turn by hand then i guess that means it cant be the tranny ...i think .lol

if it aint the tranny and towing it didnt turn it then some thing is fucked , the fact you can turn it a little make me think there is a foreign object stuck some where cause if the bearings were seized i wouldnt think it would move at all ..

im stumped
