Bolt stuck...

Okay i know i have seen this up here before ... and tried searching it but did not know the words i should use So i failed at finding it.. Now for my question i was tightening my cage and it seemed to be binding so i backed up the nut and started to tighten it again and it it pops (Whoops guess i was pushing to hard on it when it was binding (My bad)) The part that keeps the nut from spinning that is on the motor mount i am guessing? If not correct me on what that is.. anyways it snapped and now the nut just spins..so i got it all cut down and just have the shaft of the bolt there (No head) And the nut but the nut is still being held in where it cannot just slide out.. Is the best way to do this just drilling it out? or since that tab is already broken (The one that holds the nut not the mount) Should i just get it where i can slide the whole thing out? I know i probably sound like a ignorant fool right here... but that is because i am Pretty much my question is... Just drill it? or is there another way?

Thanks! Its on a 04 636... I always forget yall cant read my mind and know what bike i am talking about...

eeewww so you broke the motor

well if you can get a wrench on the nut and a pair of vice grips on the whats left of the bolt then you can just unscrew it..

if not then ya youre gonna have to drill it out , what side of the motor is it on ?
i ask cause on the right side you can adjust the frame spacer back away from the motor and maybe cut the bolt right next to the motor and possible get it out the back

Re: Bolt stuck...

I did this on my old 03' and it took a drill, air chizel, and about 6 hours of cussing, throwing, & kicking stuff to get it out

if you can keep the bolt from spinning you can just drill it out starting with a small drill bit and going up to a slightly larger drill bit till the bolt is gone or thin enough to break ..

the secret is drill slow but push hard and use a hose or alot of wd 40 to keep the bolt and the bit from getting hot

if you drill too fast every thing gets hot and binds up and the heat dulls the drill bit ..

if nothing else you should be able to adjust the spacer back enough to get a sawzall in there to cut the bolt flush with the motor and at least that way you will have less to drill if you have to good luck
