Clutches

I've been feeling like it's starting to take a little more to clutch it up. I hear a little bit more slipping than normal. It's been long enough to warrant a new clutch. I was wondering what clutches everyone is running and any to stay away from. HAI sells Barnett then I hear OEM or bust....what's up?

Re: Clutches

I've never run anything BUT OEM. And after replacing the clutch once, I've never had to replace it again.

Re: Clutches

Right on. I ordered an OEM clutch and some EBC springs which claim to be 10% stiffer than stock.

Re: Clutches

Why would you want stiffer springs than stock? Wouldnt that just make your clutch pull a lot harder than it is now? I might be wrong but thats what I would think?

Re: Clutches

if you have an easy pull of any kind installed, it doesn't make much of a difference in lever pull. stiffer springs keep clutch from slipping as much when not engaging the clutch lever

Re: Clutches

Makes sense but even with the EZ pull it would still be a little harder than without the OEM springs, right?

Re: Clutches

I use the Moose easy pull. I hope that the EBC springs are not going to be too much stiffer than OEM. I've heard from a few people that running stiffer springs is better. I haven't installed my clutch yet so I guess it's not too late to order some stock clutch springs. Has anyone run both stock and stiffer springs and noticed a big difference? Is it really worth it?

Re: Clutches

Well, with the moose easy pull and lengthening the clutch actuating arm I could probably get the clutch lever to pull as easy if not easier than stock. I was wondering what kind of performance different I can expect with the clutch itself. With stiffer springs will it be better on clutching up the bike and feathering the clutch and engaging burn outs or are the stock springs the way to go....?

Re: Clutches

do this... dk if you have a ez pull or stock still but if you have a stock keep it.. and get what ever springs you want and do this to your clutch

make your clutch arm longer, wala ez pull with stock lever (easyier then those after market levers) you can extend the arm 9mm so it will fit back in the clutch cover, this way you can have any springs you want and if its not easy enough for you to pull in, then buy a ez pull and it will be butter like no other

post #69 hohey does it on his f4i:

Re: Clutches

Definately appreciate it. I think I'm gonna roll with all OEM and lengthen my actuating arm a few millimeters and see how that works for me.

Re: Clutches

ive used all and can honestly say Ive never notice much of a difference in life or performance, go for whats more available or even cheaper as alot of aftermarket products are cheaper than stock...but everyone has their opinion......
