sprocket set up
sprocket set up
Hello everyone. I am new to the board. I have an 01 gsxr 750 and I just ordered up some chain and sprockets. Th ebike was stock geared and I could wheelie it pretty good, but I wanted to slow the wheelies down. I went -1 on the front sprocket and +9 in the rear. Can someone please give me some feedback on this setup or would I be better off goijng with a bigger rear sprocket. I need to keep the bike somehwta streetable for short rides. Thanks.
Re: sprocket set up
its best to learn on stock, bigger gearing will make throttle way more responsive, the reason people put bigger sprockets on is because they learn'd how to do wheelies by setting the idle to 3000, 4000 rpms and clutching it to balance point from a dead stop n then u no longer have to give it any throttle inputs. bigger sprocket is to go slower on this idle. u can still do 5mph wheelies on stock gearing.
Re: sprocket set up
Thanks for the help. I can get it down pretty slow on the stock gears. I am just looking to make it a bit easier on the bike in the parking lot. I feel as if I am giving the bike a beat down clutching it with the stock gearing.

Your right .. unless you are slipping the clutch to keep it from stalling out. but talk to "inolen" up there and he can slow so far it makes that **** go backwards on stock.
Re: sprocket set up
on my r6 i can slow down to 4-5mph on stock gearing but my motor knocks like crazy. 20mph is pretty damn fast, ur still on the throttle the entire time, u need to learn how to not use ur throttle when ur in a wheelie.
Re: sprocket set up
I need a lot of practice. The only wheelies I have ever did on street bikes were second gear stand ups at high speeds. For some reason I can keep those up as long as I want to. Hopefully I will see some nice weather next week when I have off from school, Maybe I can get to a lot and practice.
