Melting Light Wires
I just bought short stock lights and a fender removal kit for my '05 636 and have a general question about the wiring to the new lights. I made a mount for them on the same mount as the license plate but now the wires will be right against the side of the exhaust pipe when they go to the lights. I want to have the lights for two reasons. One, a little safety and two, I paid for the lights I want them to light up. The question is: will the wire wrap melt against the pipe or should I buy some thermal tape wrap for the wires? Or if anyone has a better way to run the wires I'm all ears. Thanks.
Re: Melting Light Wires
It would have been cheaper to just have gotten bertha's race style fender eliminator for 40 shipped and clear alternatives tail light with integrated turn signals for 70, then you wouldn't have to worry about wires melting.
Re: Melting Light Wires
The pipe is an undertail and the specific fender eliminator he's speaking of has the turn signals mounted on the side of the exhaust, if you're using aftermarket "universal" signals the back them will touch the exhaust, that's why I went with a race style fender eliminator.
