battery isnt recharging itself while running. it will drain it dead. definite charging problem. do i need a new alternator or a new stator?!?!?!?!

 

could be a number of things wrong with it could have a bad rectifier or voltage regulator. you need a volt meter statr at the battery and work your way back test the leads coming from the stator you should have at least 4 volts on each lead of the three wires coming from the stator. another thing is to check all of your connections for corrosion make sure they are all clean and you could also have a battery with a internal short that is draining on its own after you charge it. just a couple of ideas to check.
