just once you might have to stomp it a lil to get it started but then the rest jus kinda falls in....and after it was dented in i used a big sledge hammer just to straighten it a lil i used it cuz of the size of the hammer i didnt use any force at all

Re: dent my tank

Your 929 tank may be a little different.... I just did my 954 and it went pretty well.

Use a dead-blow hammer (rubber/poly coated w/ buck shot or sand inside it). First work around the cap and move around in circles out to the edges. You'll probably break the cap, like I did... but a vortex fixed the problem.

Careful of creases, they can turn into cracks. I got a few crinkles here and there but nothing major.

Take your time and work it.

I pushed the filler hole all the way down to the bottom of the tank... just enough space to fit a gas pump.

Re: dent my tank

bondo is body filler used for auto repair. It is a paste that spreads out and you can use it to fill in cracks and seams and make the tank smooth. You have to sand it once it dries to get it just right! You can get it at any automotive store. I don't know what they have in Aus. but PePboys is good, Napa, Walmart, any of those will have it!

Re: dent my tank

aww had to poke fun at my mistake haha

I dont understand how to dent in my F2 tank... it seems no matter what method im goin to try to use its still goin to try to break around the gas lid like it did.

Reasoning:
In order to get the cap pushed down in the metal is goin to have to expand/contract in different directions this is why it broke where it did on my tank. The only way i see around this is by heating up the metal to make it more formable.

that 929 tank turned out well but that 954 tank looks like something mine will turn into... And that looks exteremly painful commin down in a wheelie sittin on that

You F2 people or anyone in general how am i goin to get my tank to actually dent properly and not breakin out the gas cap mount portion of the gas tank like i already did once.... I want results like the white 929's tank in the above photo (plan on lots of bondo/sanding) but i want the cap flush....

Re: dent my tank

Lots of bondo and sanding for a flush cap.

Like I said, my filler hole is ALL the way down to the inside bottom of the tank, it WILL NOT go down any further.

The cap area was a kunt, but the rest was tit.

Just leave the cap in it so it dosen't get really deformed. Use the stomp method 1st on the cap to get it down, then finish up w/ a dead-blow.

I'm strippin mine down this wkend and fillin the whole thing out w/ bondo, then repainting. Gonna lose alot of the depth to the dish but it'll be nice comfy and smooth, w/ a good back rest.

I'll post up results.

aha, thanks bro. i think that´s what we call "spachtelkitt". where you can fix cracks, and dented places in carbody´s. we have "nigrin" and some others here.
