Petrol Tanks - The Dinted Question...

Alright for those of you who have met me you probally know just how bashed in my tank is, now in hindsight I should have hit it a few times like I did, and then left it the FK alone, but no no, I got that rubber mallet out and went nuts....now what do I have?

A big bird pond (in the words of Stooge)

So I was hoping you fellas could post up some pics of your tanks (the dinted ones only) cause Im trying to guess just how much I should bash the new one thats on its way....

Re: Petrol Tanks - The Dinted Question...

hehe, funny you should mention that! DUM and I were bashing hes CBR600 tank in (which, already had big dings in it!) when suddenly, whilst trying to get the high spots down, cracked 3 holes in the tank!

So, now, another CBR600 tank is required...

Anyhooooo, heres a pic on mine

Yeah, me and Uncle are the tank dent gurus

Besides, you didn't use a mallet, you used a video camera. There's your first mistake

Re: Petrol Tanks - The Dinted Question...

Best way i've found is to get a mate to hold your bike straight up,

then get in the HC position and bounce up a couple of times,

if that doesn't work, while your mate is holding it your bike, stand on the tank and jump on a coupla times to get that first dent in it,

then shape it to fit your **** by doing the high-chair bounce thing,

if that doesn't work cause you own a piece of ***** R6 then try using your fist to shape it and if that doesn't work, use a rubber mallet

Good luck,

Hendo

Re: Petrol Tanks - The Dinted Question...

Im not big on the idea myself, my plan is to take a mould of the tank with fibre glass ond then make a fibre glass / rubber high chair mount. it will look neater , wont crack and leak petrol like some i have seen and my guess is it will enable me to get a better position over the bike.

I know all too well about this one, most of the questions I get are like "**** its like what is that bike used for????"

I did use a rubber mallet (after the video camera) but just went too nuts, I don't have any probs with bashing the tank cause if you do a neat job you can get it re sprayed which I will do and I have neva had a problem with cracking, but I only wanna do a little bashing, I also found that with a really smashed in tank your fuel doesn't last very long when running around flat stick that is a downer....

Now thasts what Im on about, my tank (current one) looks to the T the same as yours its more like a pond, my problem is that it is hurting my legs on the edges of the tank and I seem to be only able to carry about 4 liters of fuel.... what you think about ur tank and how much would it hold?

If you open your fuel cap its almost touching the bottom of the tank yeah?
