Re: 636 03' oil pressure problem

and if it couldn't push out the air then every time you changed the oil you would need to bleed the oil filter .

Re: 636 03' oil pressure problem

so I went riding again today
same ****
crashed to the right
started it
leaned it to the left on the sidestand
nothing
did it again
nothing
waited
throttled up
it dissapeared
since I got nice weather I gonna abuse it as long as I can
then I will play with the clena air mod and deburping the oil filter
I also have a reversed style oil pickup.
it will rain-it will get done.

the clean air mod wont change any thing in this situation but i still recommend doing it for a host of other reasons .....

Re: 636 03' oil pressure problem

This is Jerry the guy that Compton is talking about

I've had this problem, since day one. Anytime my bike goes to the cage on the right side, running or not it will loose oil pressure. You can lay it down on the cage and pick it right back up with the engine shut off and it will do this, or when you highside anything doesn't matter.

If I let it run it takes an insane amount of time to correct itself. Leaving it on the kickstand or putting it on the cage on the left does nothing, even leaving it for days!!

The only way it will work is loosening the oil filter up and crank it, runs for a second and oil comes out tighten it up and your good!

Same thing when the oil is changed, no pressure even if the filter is filled.
Been inside my pan too and don't see anyway it can get an airtrap but it does. overfilled underfilled doesn't matter.
And yes it only happens on some of the 636's... 2 out of the 8 people I personally know that rides them have these problems.
Any other ideas of a fix let me know I'll be the first to try it!

every 636 i have ever seen gets the oil light when you crash on the right side and if you just let it sit on the stand for a second before you start it up it is fine , i do run my idle around 3 grand so maybe that has some thing to do with it but out of about 20 or more 636's i have never seen one need the oil filter cracked to get the light to go out

Re: 636 03' oil pressure problem

I always crank mine right after I pick it up. then after I'm sure it's not going to catch pressure I roll it over to the grass and crack it open. maybe thats the differance is I don't let it sit on the stand for a few seconds before starting it. I'll try it next time I ride.. trust me I'll def. highside sometime and put it on the right side.. lol

Anyways I'll post up how it does after next weekend!

Re: 636 03' oil pressure problem

not a 636, but if I drop my bike, even with it not runniogn, and I picked it up within 10 seconds
And I start it instaantly, it ALWAYS take 5-10 seconds to build pressure..

If I pay my bike over for 10 seconsd, pick it up, and wait 5 minutes to start it, it can take over 30 seconds to build pressure!

**** makes me nevous, already had my oil pump out twice, and myoil pan off 3-4 times!

Next time I'm gonna order a new pickup gasket, and install that and see if it gets any better..

btw used to run rotella 15-40 and figured that might be my problem, so now I'm on 10-30 super tech fully synthetic

sometimes I wish I had an f4i

got no time to disassemble the bike
I prefer to run it
then work on the damage done so far.

thats why I was asking what a reversed one was. I have never heard of anyone having problems with the 636 pickup.
