929 questions... please advice me :)

So as I told you yesterday, I bought a 929... Now i'm totally new to this, i went from a '92 F2 carburated piece of **** to a fresh and clean 2000 cbr929

I have no clue what so ever how to set this bike up for stunting... So I have a couple of very basic question, which probably could have been answered easily if the search machine on this forum would work

Hope everyone can clear these things out for me:

- Is there a tip-over sensor that I should get rid off ?

- Do I need to change/modify my oil pick-up??

- I heard something about an exhaust valve? It would make a difference in the amount of torque and twitchyness if you'd set it to open for ever

- Do I need to modify my idle??

- Are there other things I should be aware of??

Thnx

Re: 929 questions... please advice me :)

i can answer a few questions for you ...

the tip over sensor is a small black box with three wires comming out of it ( green, red and white) its located under your tank in front of your seat... you need to connect the green and red wire that goes to the sensor and tape the white of...its the same on any fuel injected honda...

https://www.stuntlife.com/forums/443...er-sensor.html

you dont need a oil pickup on the 929, the stock pickup is already in a decent location, i just overfill it with 700 ml...

stock idle can only be adjusted till 2300 otherwise it will jump all over the place..., i have just put a F2 idle cable on the throttle stop between throttle body 2 & 3, see pic below (they used a 900rr cable but it think the F2 one is longer), and now you can put the idle a little higher but you will have to find the sweet idle spot by adjusting the stock & 2nd cable...

i havent removed the exhaust valve yet... but the valve works together with a plastic flap in your airbox thats automaticly adjusted by a servo motor under your tank...

you can also do a clean air mod on any fuel injected honda...

https://www.stuntlife.com/forums/444...r-box-mod.html

i think the idle pulls a little stronger but i hardly notice it... its definatly a must tough, because when you crash with high idle normally your bike will hydrolock and with this mod it prevents it!

1 extra important issue is you need a rock solid cage cause the stator cover sticks a little further out than on other bikes, i run the Sick innovations on my bike and as a learning squid i drop my more than once a day , and it holds up great! but maybe you can let switch cages & customs or extreme welding services build you a descent one...

i hope my info helps for you and good luck with your bike J!

havent pulled the exhaust valve out yet... can you just pull it out, loose the cabels and the airbox flap? or do you have to put something else in place of the valve?

Re: 929 questions... please advice me :)

I can agree with Loco-Honda, the stock idle on my 954 just goes to 2000rpm and jumps up and down so I only turn it to 1800, I will do the 2nd cable mod soon and I will also use an F2/F3 cable cause they´re the longest.
I run 1l more oil in mine which works fine so far.
I also still use the exhaust valve and the bike is very choppy, especialy with the stock idle turned up.
The sickinnovations cage works great on the 92954.

why did you buy a 929 and not a 600?
I was able to ride Jacob Brunelles F4i and that thing is so smooth that I was shocked what big difference it is, absolutely not compareable to the 92954, so it makes no sense to me why you bought that bike.
I will def get me a 6hundo next after my liter bike experience.

Re: 929 questions... please advice me :)

well, everyone allready has a f4i... I just don't like to be the same as everybody else, I want to be a lil bit more original.

Thnx for the advice, i'm gonna do the idle mod soon, and i'll probably design my own cage (i'm broke after buying the 929)

And about the choppyness, well, there's always something you can do to make it less choppy... We'll see in a couple of months, how I like the 929

also, you guys have any srocket/gearing advice?

but no way you can do nice circels with that, or you should work with the clutch constantly, but I don't like that...

I'm thinking about putting a 60tooth in the rear, and stock in the front...

And maybe getting a FI cage?

you don't need much gearing for this bike....if you go more than like 15 + up in the rear you will not like it....i run -1 +9 and it's awesome,....

RIck Nasty ran -2 +5...and he killed everythink with NO HANDBRAKE including loads of idle stuff!!!! Crazy gearing is not needed....

Re: 929 questions... please advice me :)

really? But I know two french stuntriders who both rock a 929, and one has +60 in the back, stock in the front, and the other the same, but -1 in the front...

Is it really not necessery to go a bit big in gearing for circels?? I mean, my 1st gear is a very long one compared to my f2...

(owh btw, i really appreciate you guys help This bike is totally new for me, and i want be out there soon again So thnx for respecting me with all my squidy questions, by just trying to answer them )

Re: 929 questions... please advice me :)

a friend of mine ran 14/54 on his 929 and went back to 15/47 because it was too much for him.....but I have to say he uses the bike on the street too, not only for stunting

Jurgen you can ask MarcoL ( www.stuntfire.net ) he has a lot of experience with the 929
