if you just want to shoot, i would recommend a .22 for everyone, they are cheap and ammo is cheap too.

It doesnt have problems, just FAR from the ideal weapon for the military. Follow up shots are slower because of the kick (heavy slide). Its unbalanced, heavy, and still a 9mm. It is reliable for the most part though. Gotta realize when someone says a gun sucks, its still gunna be fun

I own a H&K 40 CAL. and i like it. ive shot alot of guns and i would have to say its what really fells comfortable in your hands. my next gun is a glock for sure. ive found those to be the best for me.

go to a range and alot of places let you test the guns out, i know here in illinois you need a F.O.I.D. card which allows you to own one. just check out the gun dealerships and gun ranges to see if your able to test them out. another thing is if your friends have other kinds try them if they trust you lol.

Re: Your favorite 9mm

yea the witness my father has is a little to big, i do like the xd series though. and whenever i do have my own gun it will be solely for self-defense purposes, because for the next four years of my life i will be living in a part of richmond, VA, primarily the "HOOD" no joke.
this smith & wesson compact revolver isnt that much bigger than the xd's shown in the thread...but i dont know how reliable they are as far as accuracy goes. nice lookin gun though.

im really liking the Walther P22 as far as .22 cals go....and they arent bad carry guns either they are very lightweight.
kelm, u should get a .22 cal first
what is your primary use...self-defense? or leisure (range)?

its a snub nose revolver, youre definately not gonna hit something from a distance. if youre using it for home protection, then it will be fine, i just dont like those because there is no safety.

and it isnt just the fact that its richmond, with the hard times people are getting more desperate my friend.
whats wrong with protecting myself with a handgun as a last option?
i dont know about you, but i do not take kindly to people that take the easy way to get **** that they want.

depends on the .22 and the gun pictured is a .357 magnum.

i guess "richmond's" are ghetto, we have a richmond out here in cali and its definitely one of the rougher cities in the bay area.

if you are using it for protection, chances are you are not going to get into a shootout at a long distance.

man i guess so...but the richmond here is prolly nothing compared to the bay and oakland areas in cali. but you have desperate people everywhere you know what i mean.
i dont know what kelm's talking about, **** he lives in an area full of fake hillbillies and rednecks that consider themselves southern. lol
and dont take this the wrong way kelm, i know where i live isnt bad or "go hard", i feel blessed to live in a good area because its never always been that way.
i see he's stepping his game up with his riding...keep it up kelm!

Good thing you added that at the end or else he'd be posting riding pictures in this thread too.

Re: Your favorite 9mm

You should go to the range and rent a few and see what you like/ are comfortable with in terms of shooting... If you feel like driving sometime meet me down here in Richmond I will bring a few of my handguns and you can blast them as long as you don't shoot me?? It's $10.00 to rent 2 guns at the range up the street from me just have to buy their ammo.... just my 2 cents
