As always bikerboy, nice post.

You need to learn how to stay alive on your bike first man, then you can push your limits. I just got my bike in aug. too, a VF500, and I wish I had gotten a 600. Simply becuase it needs new tires and I cannot push myself too much. But ...learn how to ride then stun, these guys make it look easy...just look at their bikes, it takes A LOT of crashing to get to where they are. Take it slow man and be safe...

My friend just got GSXR1000 for his first bike. I rode with him a few times and he seemed pretty good on it, but all it takes is someone cutting you off and a lack of trained reflexes to send you to the ground.

And why you would buy a 954 for your first bike is beyond me.....Oh I know i know, you don't want to get bored. Yeah, ok. I have smoked a few 929's a 954, a gix 750, and a few others I can't remember. All on a 600, an old as ZX-6. Why? They couldn't ride for ****.

Listen, it is good you have kept it up so far so, keep doing what your doing and take it slow. Many squids would have been down by this point for you. Have fun and be safe...........

ROFL.... This is not my first bike. Matter of fact this is my 2nd bike for the summer. Let me run down my experience. First off I am not a kid 30 to be exact been riding sport bikes since 90. Does that make me a pro NO, but let me run down my experience for you or resume. Started out on a trike at age 2, then moved on the a bicycle, moped,dirtbike, now for the serious stuff. First sport bike 250 ninja riding time one year traded up to a 600 katana, rode 2 years, them moved on to a gsxr600, rode 2 years, then moved on to a zx-6, then moved on to a F3, then moved on to a 900RR, then moved back to an F3, then went to a 954. I hope this covers that a 954 is NOT my first bike. I am just saying that first off I paid cash for this bike so dropping 10k for me is a big deal so I am taking care of it. Second I have been a 600 class guy for a long time so yes the power of a 954 is unreal so I have been pussying around on it. Trying to be safe as you would put it. I like my brain just as much as the next guy. During this forum I was merely putting up my thoughts and problems that I am experencing with the new bike. Once again owning all those bikes does not make me pro. I am just stating that I do have some riding experience and that I'm not a squid idiot in shorts on a new bike that is way to powerful for me. I always wear my gear.

slim...its all about timing if your gonna bounce it up... take it to around 7000 rpm and compress the front froks, as soon as they start to rebound push your feet into the pegs and lean back while pulling back on the grips. If you think about it your back is most of the wieght on your body...play with that a little and you'll find the bp quick. the rpm that I am useing as a reference is for a 600 in 2nd gear.

AMEN SLIIM...squids suck....its all about the rider, not the bike....and, yeah a bike can be a piece of **** because of lack of maintaince, but an awesome bike, doesn't make a rider.

AMEN SLIM, it's mainly rider not the bike....as we all know fast bikes (929, 954, 1000, ect.) don't make fast riders, as well as, fully capable bikes can power wheelie, but it takes a rider to control one. my first bike was an '01 929, but i have also been racing motocross for 17 years, needless to say, i faired well because i didn't ride over my head. one time, after i had been stunting for about 1.5 years, an unnamed rider shot his mouth off and said, "it's u're bike, (a 929, one of the best stunt bikes around). and i proceeded to get on a friends bike (a ragged out 600, stock gears) and showed him how to wheelie....it's the rider, not bike.

Ha, this reminds me of a story, this squid was bitching his F4i wouldn't wheelie, a buddy of mine said let me try it.........first shot he stood it up and rode one out past a mile or so w/o ever riding one before. We all laughed are *** off. Within a week that squid rear-ended a car cuz he wasn't paying attention and we didn't have to worry about him hurting himself trying to stunt again
