Question Chains-Clips or Rivets

Want to know, which is better for stunting? I know alot of people on general(not just stunting)recommend going with rivets over the clips.

What do you guys usually go with. And whats you brand of choice for chains?

Right now Im deciding with a EK, DID, or RK chain to go with. Had a DID standard on for a week before it broke on me

Also, anybody have a stock chain guard they dont need for a 97 GSXR 750?

get and o or x ring chain, i dont think the clip or rivets matter, i have a clip on mine and so does my boy. o ring and x ring are stonger then standard, make sure you have the right amount of slack maybe a little more

Good loooking out. I just talked to one of the shops local to me. And the guy said the same thing. He said he only seen one bike throw a chain with clip on it.

Plus he said it easier when you need to take out or add links over the rivets.

And thanks for the info on the IM's bro.

Papa Kev has thrown a chain due to a clip. Clips are good (imo) till u figure out the gearing u like..then go rivit. A rivit is also as strong as any other link in the chain.
EK seems to be cheaper $$ and I have never had a prob with the SRX or MVX series. A buddy runs EK on his turbo drag bike also with never a prob.

I think most people use the clips because they are easy to use. If you use the rivet kind you can use a pair of vise grips with a nut larger than the pin in between to push the master together. Then you need to get a chunk of stell behind the link and the peen over the end of the link with a punch and hammer.

Or you can spend the 35 clams and get the tool.

Where can I get a rivet tool for 35 clams? The ones I've seen are 100+.

Go to Lockhart phillips.com and buy yourself a tool. My god you ride bikes you need to have a smash link tool. NEVER USE A CLIP. You are crazy to put those damb things on these bikes for longer than a day or so for an emergency or to check out gearing you might want to run. Rivets are easy to install and are never going to cause you any trouble. If you have any ?'s on how to install one PM me. The clips are hella dangerous. I race and have seen guys throw those things at like 130-150mph and I am talking f'n explosions of the bike and the f'n chain goes like 300 feet in the air and comes down like a piece of shrapnal. Scary stuff to be around. With the snap you give the chain poping the clutch is just as hard on the sh*t as doing 130-150mph you are asking for trouble if you use clips.
Clips= TEMPORARY
RIVETS= SAFTEY
Just my

Motion Pro has a bunch of different chain tools you can buy. Check parts411.com and kneedraggers.com. I went ahead and ordered the EK SRX chain last night. The parts guy told me he'd throw i the clip for free. So I'll see if I can get him to throw in the rivet for free too.

This is the whole reason why Im getting a new chain. Went out sinday morning to practice. Then went to get smokes, and coming off my street, went to pop one up. The bike just revs, I feel something hit my tail then tap my leg. Look down and my chain was dragging. Only had the chain on for a week(brand new too, with new sprockets).

DID standard.
