clutch question

Just want a little more info before I start taking the bike apart. My bike is shifting fine for the most part a little sticky, but very rideable the problem is when the bike is in gear and clutch is pulled in I cant roll the bike around freely, never happened before and i have also never smelled my clutch being abused. I found in the fsm there is a clutch lifter pin adjustment and should be done around the amount of miles I have.... 30k. Something tells me its not the lifter pin adjustment, I am wondering if my clutch maybe just needs to be adjusted at the motor or if possibly the fiber plates are toast. I cant see how the plates could be done, any info is very much appreciated, I tried this question on a different forum but sooo many people that want to sound like they know what they are talking about make it hard to get a good answer.

-Thanks

Re: clutch question

Check your clutch cable....could be frayed or stretched. You should be able to adjust it a bit tighter to fully disengage the clutch at the clutch lever, but check to make sure its not frayed first.

Re: clutch question

adjusting at the lever doesnt do it, all the way out or in and the and the bike doesnt roll in gear. When I am riding and I slow to a stop with the bike in gear and the clutch pulled I dont feel much resistance but it is there can kind of hear it. Is this really hard on my transmission?

Re: clutch question

Can you smell a slipping or burning clutch on a bike? Honest question not trying to talk ****. Just thought its more sealed up than a dry clutch like on a car there are holes to allow moisture to drain out etc.. Im sure there is a PCV type valve to releave pressure from the crankcase but i never notice much of any air flow from there
