The school is nothing but hands on experience... The dyno thing is just 3 weeks long... I'm kinda undecided on what to take from your post... Other than the "sucks time that one could spend riding instead of wrenching" because that's not an option for some of us ;-) Should I go or just try to get into a shop and learn that way?

I also was considering the school because like I said before, I wanna open a shop in the future.. Going to a bank when I have gone to school for about 2 years, then gone to college for business education while working hands on at a shop for a few years, (giving me 5 years experience in the profession) would help alot to get an overall loan for a business....??

naaa its prolly smart to do the school thing cause i am sure they teach you a lot more about the electronics and how tos of the internals and specifics of the bike... its crazy its brand specific though. but im sure a lot of the info would bleed over.. my step bro went to some crazy $ harley school to learn how to work on those piles and in the end he got all the schooling and then couldnt get a job that actually paid enough as a harley lisenced mechanic to survive and hasnt wrenched on a bike in ages since.. total waste of $ in his case..

but going the working at a shop and learning hands on route not only could take ya awhile it could teach ya a lot of bad habits that im sure the school would prevent.. i dunno... its all ur choice.

i know my way around a bike pretty well but lord knows i am a shotty mechanic and cut corners left and right... specially on these new bikes.. my 09s have so many crazy new sensors and are vacum sensative blah blah.. its a lot to learn through trial and error..

That was pretty much how I was thinkin about it. Going to that school for just under 2 years would probably teach me what I would learn at a shop in probably 2 or 3 times that long.

It kinda scares me cause I hear the story of people going to these schools and then not being able to get a job? I feel like I'm a pretty determined person and could get a job... But these story's suck for sitting in the back of my head...

Anyways, thanks for your input. I always respect your opinions when it comes to this industry. I never got a chance to congratulate you on the sponsorship of Kawi... That's ****** ILL bro!! Keep it up... And if your ever doin a show out here, or maybe in Phoenix soon, and need another rider again... Hit me up!!

one thing you gota keep in mind is dealerships stick w/ their same crew and not many people quit once they land a gig at a shop. You may have to move or relocate to wherever a new shop opens

that would be clinic 9 dyno...

i also took that class at MMI in orlando and we didnt get to change exhausts or gearing (not saying hes a liar, just stating we didnt get to do it ) ... we just rode a 750 with stock exhaust than one with a yoshi... we mainly rode the drz400sm though which was pretty sweet ...
