Occupations?
Re: Occupations?
I just don't get how it's a waste of money?!?! I was talking to one guy that is in school right now and he said it's awesome... And this is an older guy that know his **** already but wanted to further his career by having the education... He said the first 3 weeks he was in his elective, they had him take apart a complete motor and tranny, then rebuild it and make it run... Right now, he is in his 10th week and for 3 weeks straight, he's been on a dyno all day mapping, putting on different exhausts, different gearing, and seeing what the difference is in horsepower... That's just a small portion of what you do there... That's what he said.... That to me sounds like it's worth the money... Like I said before, it's usually people who don't apply themselves after they get out of school and then blame the school.... My

i say hands on experience is way more valuable and useable.
bike mechanics is definately not rocket science.. and running a dyno takes 10 min to learn. itll take ya longer to physically swap the exhaust/headers on the bike than learning how to use a dyno... and the worst thing.. swapping exhausts is not fun, its not sweet happy good times its tedious borning bang your head against the wall work that sucks time that one could spend riding instead of wrenching.... lol
10k to learn how to swap motors and use a dyno.. i need to open a school!!

The school is nothing but hands on experience... The dyno thing is just 3 weeks long... I'm kinda undecided on what to take from your post... Other than the "sucks time that one could spend riding instead of wrenching" because that's not an option for some of us ;-) Should I go or just try to get into a shop and learn that way?
I also was considering the school because like I said before, I wanna open a shop in the future.. Going to a bank when I have gone to school for about 2 years, then gone to college for business education while working hands on at a shop for a few years, (giving me 5 years experience in the profession) would help alot to get an overall loan for a business....??

Re: Occupations?
I'm a Safety Director for 3 Construction Companies:
General
Masonry
Drywall
I catch HELL when I come to work with new scabs
It's cool tho it's deffinately a job with alot of freedom. I basically decide what I am going to do every day.
Bad thing is you never know what you've accomplished because you can't look at something that didn't happen and say "I DID THAT!!"
