Here is a good way to look at it.

You want the stickiest front with a decent profile.
You want the best overall rear with a lot of life.

So here are what I feel your best choices are in order of preference.

Fronts:
Avon Viper Extreme
Pirrelli SuperCorsa SC 2 or SC 3
Pilot Power Race

Rear:
Avon Storm
Maxxis Supermax
Pilot power

I've tried just about everything at one point or another and pairing any of the tires above works. You don't need to run the same brand either. So if you find a good deal on an Avon front and a Maxxis rear do it. Anyone that just recommends one brand of tire is not giving you the full info. All of them have good characteristics. But the above tires are NASTY for freestyle. There is a reason you'll go to a comp and see most professionals running touring style rears.

Shinko 005 front, Shinko 009 rear..

tires are sick, and cheap as **** ($82 shipped front, $109 shipped rear)

edit: that's a Grandma's Boy reference Herb..
