hard or soft shocks ?

I just noticed my new bike had the rear shock set all the way soft and i hated it so I put it around med . ever time i hit the rear brake it felt like it was bouncing .So I was wondering how everyone rides theres or if they even mess with it ? how would it ride hard .

Re: hard or soft shocks ?

i run between 15-18psi, or 20 if i just don't care to let it out. i think 15 feels best. But definitely put your shock on hard setting

Re: hard or soft shocks ?

I have mine as hard as it'll go with 32lbs in the rear tire.

Re: hard or soft shocks ?

I always run all the way in and then back out slightly so you don't damage the seals. Make sure to set both top and bottom dampening adjusters to the harder setting (or the one on the resevoir and the one on the bottom of the shock for Honda guys).

I do the same for the front forks as well. Kill the pogo!

And I like 28psi front and rear on the tire pressure

Re: hard or soft shocks ?

mine is pretty stiff too and i like it alot, and i use 15-18psi also it eliminates the wobble when ur killin the streets pretty well
but ive heard alot of people say they like right around 30psi and 15-18 is too soft but i guess its person preference just mess with it and see what you like best

Re: hard or soft shocks ?

rear setting all the way hard with all the sag dialed out so the suspension is at the top of it's travel when the bike is just sitting,it's better for circles and stoppies and i like my rear tire at 20 pounds

Re: hard or soft shocks ?

dialing the sag out is done by tightening the rear spring so the rear suspesion doesn't sag at all when the bike is sitting..

if you lift up on the subframe on most bikes it will lift up a little before the tire lifts off the ground the amount the subframe rises before the tire lifts is your sag..

i like no sag for a stunt bike because it makes it so the bikes suspension doesn't move alot when your braking during a wheelie and it make it so you don't have to over come the sag during a stoppie because the suspension will already be at the top of it's travel....
