Re: FI cage opinions??????

I've personally destroyed 2 954's and an f4i w/ FI cages

1st: say bye bye to your motor mount threads.

2nd: say bye bye to your clip-ons and ALL of your controls...

3rd: say bye bye to you stator cover

Make sure to have a spare EVERYTHING on hand or you'll be spending alot of time on ebay. FI gives new meaning to the word "ROLL CAGE".

Seriously man, just get a SI and save yourself the time, money and frustration. But from what I'm reading... you seem like your dead set on FI so... good luck!! :YEAH

my cage bottoms out alot & throws sparks at night but its never been a problem. and for you guys talking about tweaking the loop to where it hits a stator.. ive pancaked my bike, 04 gsxr600, just like everyone else and it will break the bolts going to the sliders/loop but the loop itself has been in decent shape for 2 years and isnt noticibly bent.

all it takes is a can of bolts, a small selection of hammers & malets plus a can of flat black and BAM! new fi cage

TRUE TRUE but why spend money and time fixing a cage when you can buy a S.I. cage and not have to do any of those things? Or at least not nearly as often.

i just dont see how a SI cage would cause a 600RR any less to roll over on its tank........600rr mounts are low

600rr is a cage nightmare cuz they motormounts are so ****** low, honestly the tygershark is prob best suited for that bike cuz the sliders stick out nice and far. i had an SI on mine that worked well but i dont drop my bikes hard, but im sure if you let it fly with most any cage on a 600rr it will roll right over. so tygershark is best for that bike i believe.

yeah, but you can always put those sliders on the end of the SI cages, thats what i plan on doing once mine arrives for my RR, that should stop it rolling over... shouldnt it?

Re: FI cage opinions??????

i had an FI on my 929 and it busted my stator case open, pulled all the threads out of the motormount when i kept it tight and it even went as far as puncturing the water jacket behind the motormount causing a major coolant leak.

FI=junk

The new style Powers cage has done wonderful for me on my 636.
This topic is beat to oblivion I can't believe I'm actually typing in this thread right now.

Re: FI cage opinions??????

quick SI save of the day... with no nut on the rear mount just for kicks (actually it fell off and I didn't notice) .... Picked it up and kept on riding w/out a second thought.

Try this w/ an FI cage.... my prediction: Trashed upper... trashed upper stay... trashed left clipon and all controls... trashed left motor mount...

Just my opinion from previous experience. I destroyed my right knee last year.... so I let my bike fly b4 I try to hang on and save it.... hence, SI is my favorite vendor. :YEAH

Notice the bars don't even come close to touching the ground....

Not trying to rain on ya KJ, but I've tumbled my F4i with my FI cage and picked it back up and rode off. ALL cages will destroy your clips ons if you don't leave them snug vs. tight. I leave everything up front snug, not tight so when I do wreck it just folds in.

But I can't diss on SI or Tygershark.. both are sick, and both do their jobs very well.

Hey... I hear ya man. Some people do just fine w/ FI or any other type of cage for that matter.

I'm just tryin to point out, for people like me who toss their bikes ON A DAILY BASIS like I do... that all I do is pick it up and go... every time.

Where as w/ the 3 or 4 FI cages i ran (don't remember how many at this point), I'd have to call it a day and take the bike home to replace a bunch of ****.

Yes... i found out through an ACL disaster and a year of PT that it's always better to grab a handfull of throttle and let the bike go down low than to try to save it by hangin on and highsiding going fast.

when I first learned O's I would try to hang on to soften the landing and kept pulling the muscle in my shoulder. Now I just toss that bitch

I like what I have heard and if this cage fails believe I will be trying a SI cage next. I never heard anyone say bad about the FI cage but I know you all hate them. I wanted to see y and also voice my side. so if you dont like what your reading STOP! otherwise the rest of us will finish a conversation that you joined by choice anyway!
Thanks for the input the rest of you!
Sounds like your the one that needs to settle down

If you don't like what your reading, then stop

I don't see where I cried

btw I've watch FI cage break on an impact I think it should have held..
I'm pretty sure it was a FI cage, but I'd never want to run one.

Looks like a weak design to me, I'd rather just go with a cage that looks way stronger, SI or tigershark

Sounds to me like your the one getting your feelings hurt everytime someone shares their opinions on the FI cage..

I've read hundreds of stories about FI cages breaking stator covers, breaking motor mounts, breaking frames...

And worst I've heard about SI cages are getting sockets stuck in the tubes
And I've never heard anything bad about tigershark

Re: FI cage opinions??????

every time i see a fi cage hit the ground i see oil from a broken stator cover and a broken motor mount and some times a broken motor and frame.

si makes a deisel cage for the f4i but on a 636 i always see the rear mount broken off

i don't sell regular crash cages over the net so this isn't me saying bad things about peoples crash cages for the sake of selling mine this is just what iv'e seen personally....
