Re: FI cage opinions??????

the cage is really strong unfortantley the gsxr motor mounts arent. also have bronken 2 of the all steel threads just from sitting down slow wheelies and no i didnt over tighten it down. it seems that the bottom of the cage loop bottoms out on the ground and i think thats what caused the all thread to break. sold my gsxr and got a kawi and now im runnin sick innovations cage.

Re: FI cage opinions??????

Half those hits on the video are not even hard.
The other half cut video before you can truly see any damage.
IMHO and experience they are one of the best looking cages, but if you crash HARD or at weird angles they cannot take the obuse other cages can.

Re: FI cage opinions??????

I saw the superbikes FI episode last night where they launched the R6 at like 40. It was pretty funny seeing the thing launch so hard the rear didn't even touch the ground when it looped but they were able to start it and ride it afterward. It was pretty trashed tho.

Re: FI cage opinions??????

I have read the posts but I don't have to see vids to know these cages work. I stunt every saturday and sunday and watch these cages take abuse over and over. I personaly have had a 905 cage and powers and FI ... and FI WINS my vote by far. My hit with my fi cage on my 954 was hard. It juumped up in the air and ate it. All I broke was a plastic end tip.... I know tygershark and si are good but I still have heard negative on all ..... I wanted some fresh answers not old **** talking from the past

Re: FI cage opinions??????

They demolish stator covers on 636s. It might not be an issue with pro level riders, but for newbies and guys that are still throwing down pancake crashes from the 12 bar it is.

I hear ya.
I personally like SI cause Im known for tossing my **** like a rag doll. Nothing like the vid they showed on the site (FI). The front bar brace on SI provides added protection from tweaking the slider part of the cage and motor mounts. Maybe their new design (FI) is better but it cant be better then SI, just from the added front bar. Of course different bikes provide different protection just from the design of the bike itself. I've seen FI cages do ok from slow simple crashes to hard ones, but I've also seen FI's bend and twist like aluminum from slow and hard crashes. good luck.

Re: FI cage opinions??????

So what cages are u running to take a pancake hit? I've seen all of them bend or tweak with a hard enough hit. All I was going to do with my fi cage was get a longer piece of derlin cut a slot in it and add a valve spring behind the plastic to cushion the blow...

Re: FI cage opinions??????

i think the fi works well on some bikes, but it was hell on my 636. if you are a seasoned stunter than you will prob. be ok with any cage. if you are new and still crashing hard then i would go with sickinnovations.

Re: FI cage opinions??????

first time i saw an fi cage was in 2003

some asian dude had a 60t on his gsxr and was reppin he was a stunter. he clutchs it up scrapes and then does the squid panic and lets go of the bike....it comes crashing down, poped the case, ripped a motor mount bolt right out and smaked the upped into a million pieces...

but they do work good for some people

Re: FI cage opinions??????

on top of that, i had a 905 on my f4i for a season, had it re weleded twice and finally hacked it off when the cage started touchin the stator...

i had my si on for a year and a half sure it was bent and fuked up looking, i never broke a case, craked plastic or rolled on my clipons. i broke one brake lever from an akward tip over.

also 287ridah(alex) tossed my **** about a dozen times, both wheels off the ground right to the cage...

i 100% doubt that an fi cage that focuses all its impact on the main motor mount will hold up to any type of this abuse..

it will hold up for circle stalls, tip overs, small slides... if u have ur clipons on top ull have spark showers every time u drop the front wheel..

bottom line if u crash ur bike while learning, u will not want an fi cage

Re: FI cage opinions??????

What do u mean it doesn't focus on the main motor mount. I saw a powers cage that didn't focus on the mount bend a frame in and crack it.....and yes a fi cage can stand up to a hard hit did you not read my post . My 954RR jumped up in the air from 12 and landed right on the cage ... bolts were tight and all I broke was a derlin tip..... I don't see how u would think a si cage is any stronger.. FI makes them out of chrom moly.. Doesn't get stronger than that and if you ask me SI is biting on fi's design. Tell me what's different . U have a gusset that connects the slider bar to the belly bar......fi has a solid belly bar not hollow..... not trying to fight here guys but get some information of your real thoughts......they guys I stunt with wouldn't take these cages off for nothing.

Re: FI cage opinions??????

go ahead and buy some stock in stator's and stator covers! you will rich in no time flat! like i said before...the fi cage works good on some bikes. but the 636 and f4i hold up alot better with the si cage. we are not telling you this because we feel like it. its from bad experience's with the fi cage. if the cage works so great for you and your friends, then why start this post? why would you want to change cages if the fi worked so well for you?

Re: FI cage opinions??????

Can't say anything bad about my FI cage, but the 2nd gen FI cages are MUCH better and stronger than their 1st gen cages.

powers is garbage because they mount flat to the frame and thats why they can brake frames. those arent even in the same category as SI or Tygershark. good for you that youre having good luck with your FI cage, unfortunately for alot of ppl that ive personally witnessed (especially on 636 and gsxrs) the cages flex so much when they hit the ground hard that they smash into case covers and brake them open and also tear out motor mounts. If u dont know that SI cage is much stronger than well you really dont know **** about cages. and how the **** would SI be biting FI design? theyre not even similar in any way what so ever. ppl have hated FI cages long before you started popping power wheelies and ppl will hate them long after youre gone and on the flip side some ppl will love them. and as for pro riders rocking them, A theyre free B they dont crash like squids.

Re: FI cage opinions??????

Here... I'll help everyone out with a cage ranking system:

(1) Tygershark
(2) SI
(3) FI

Plain and simple.... Tygershark is the ****, SI is better for beginners I personally feel b/c they can take hard drops, but FI is a pretty sick cage, and will withstand some pretty hard falls not to mention are EXTREMELY small and doesn't impede AT ALL!!
