clutching and rear handbrake control
Re: clutching and rear handbrake control
This is gonna be hard becasuse for sitdown and staggered I find I do my best coasters with limmited aproach and huckin it back super fast.....The more I think about it the worse I do...
Re: clutching and rear handbrake control
No coasters! You suck
Ok can you give me some advice on stalls then? I tried them yesterday for the first time and when I pulled in the clutch and got on the HB the bike just wants to either fall back on the bar or forward....Am I not holding the HB hard enough or are you really supposed to support the bike there with your arms?

and as far as stalls go they are mostly a balance trick not really a brake trick most of that stalls i do are basicly an intentional high side that i save by pulling in the clutch ......when the bike starts to high side i pull in the clutch and the bike stops on its own......kind of a hard trick to explain
Re: clutching and rear handbrake control
let me see if i can put it in words a little better ,have you ever done a sit down circle that ends up spinning in to tight and the bike starts to high side and then you pulled in the clutch and the bike doesn't high side ?
thats a stall
thats a stall
Re: clutching and rear handbrake control
Ive stalled like that a few times myself doing other circles, but usually the bike stalls out and that keeps it standing up.... I can work the clutch and the brake I just cant seem to hold the bike up and off the bar....Then again I only gave it maybe 15 attempts so far.....Trying to decide what to work on first....
Re: clutching and rear handbrake control
i was bored at the lot last night and just switched my hb around for the **** of it...ive had clutch outside of hb msr wit 1000rr master.....anyway i switched it and put clutch inside hb outside and what a world of a difference.
i liked my hb before but now i love it!
check it, now i need a full lever for the 1000rr

Re: clutching and rear handbrake control
ya, just make sure you cut the clutch down enough that you can pull the clutch without effecting your brake finger.
also, whoever said moving their index finger to the brake, you keep your index on teh clutch and just use your middle finger on the brake. you shouldn't need 2 fingers to work that hb.
and the coasters. screw 1st gear on SS coasters. to learn them you want LOW rpm. that is the most forgiving if you slip the clutch or whatever. if you are at high rpm it will slam down and throw you like a rag doll. i started out like 15-20mph in second gear, so i'm at low rpms, then get it nice and balanced, once you are on gently on teh backside of the balance point slowly pull that clutch in while you are applying pressure to the hb. be VERY VERY smooth and gentle with the hb action. if it starts to fall down forwards just let it go. i find it best to be too soft on the brake than too much. if you are doing 15 or so and don't give enough brake it'll just go back onto the tail or bar and drag easily, if you slam the brake it's bad news bears and you go tubling.
remember, it's much smoother at low rpm, so if you want 15mph do it in second at 5k instead of 1st at 10k
