clutching and rear handbrake control

Just wondering if anyone's got any tips on how you can work the clutch and handbrake at the same time... for something like flamingo circles, seat stander circles, etc.... im having a hard time trying to do this... Any tips? let me know.. Thanks!

Re: clutching and rear handbrake control

it took me a while to get used to it.

i always use my index on clutch and middle on hb. no matter what...i just leave them there all the time. doing that forced me to always be like that and get used to it. it probably took a good month to get the feel for doing it that way.

having the clutch on top cut down to just 1 finger and the hb on bottom works perfect for me. i think a huge factor is making sure the controls are in a comfortable position for you, cause if you can't reach them properly you won't use them.

the only times i have trouble anymore is slow spreaders, my ring finger and pinky finger want to slip off the bars with all that weight on it. highchairs i can stay in one place because of my legs, but the spreaders really put a strain on my fingers.

you'll get used to it, just keep trying. my hands were always sore when i was learning it.

Re: clutching and rear handbrake control

the way i learned was to just always have one finger on the clutch and one on the brake.......

even when i didn't need to and that got me use to having my finger there .....

no matter what trick you are doing just force your self to use only one finger and eventually it feels normal

parking it on the bar from a slow seat stander is probably the safest way to practice it

and when ever you clutch up a seat stander just use one finger on the clutch and one on the brake no matter how odd it feels and do not let your self use two fingers on the brake no matter what

Re: clutching and rear handbrake control

^^^^i use the same grip(i think most people do) but i have a little problem with clutching it up from stand up and staggered with that grip....so i clutch it up then move my index(clutch) finger to the break befor i start moving around...

Re: clutching and rear handbrake control

Cool!.. Thanks alot guys! I have been leaving one finger on each lever to get a feel, i read it somewere before to do that, sometimes i'll start off in a sit down and as soon as im up i jump to a spreader, i have a hard time slowing em down in a seat stander, but once i do to start turning it i get mixed up in the head and i'll either miss the brake and come back or pull the clutch to much and come down

Re: clutching and rear handbrake control

omr yes it's me again to wear you out!! sorry

on my 636 I have a 1000rr radial for hand brake and msr raptor for clutch. I cant position the two close enough to be comfortable. 'hint' I have my clutch on the inside of the master cyl, when pulled in it folds around the banjo and line.

pics from anyone whould be great

Re: clutching and rear handbrake control

you can put the clutch on the out side and just change the clutch adjuster to a little one .....

Re: clutching and rear handbrake control

brake on the inside gives you way more leverage on the brake any way because you will be grabbing further out on the lever

Re: clutching and rear handbrake control

seems like i've been doing everything right except moving my index down to the handbrake with my middle when i come up. But im not trusting my stock 04 R6 master to 1 finger. I'm goig to have to learn the 1 finger way when i get a better master i guess.

I'm having a hard time clutching up idle spreaders and only holding on with 2 fingers. Just do it or what??

Re: clutching and rear handbrake control

Ok Ive just started to keep both covered, now whats the esiest way to start trying seat stander coasters? Just go for it or what? Hows the balance point compared to a sit down or staggered coaster?

Ive pretty much masterd sitdown and staggered coasters, shutting the bike or and starting it again and all that ****...Just cant seem to find the ***** to pull in that clutch on a SS

Re: clutching and rear handbrake control

hahaha i don't like them either.......lol

i save most of my coasters for dirt bikes and quads ,any thing with alot of suspension so when i have a brain fade and mouse trap it doesn't hurt..lol

the bp on a ss is lower just try to be smooth....don't whip it back like a regular coaster or you will get hurt

start off in 1st gear get to bp and just go with it......the more you force it the harder it is....

No coasters! You suck

Ok can you give me some advice on stalls then? I tried them yesterday for the first time and when I pulled in the clutch and got on the HB the bike just wants to either fall back on the bar or forward....Am I not holding the HB hard enough or are you really supposed to support the bike there with your arms?
