if youve got copper shavings youve spun a bearing. i had the same thing happen on my 01 1000. All you can do is buy another motor, rebuild that one, or sell the bike if it isn't too noticeable to a squid.

I have an 06 gsxr 600, I dont do the slow stuff but plan on learning. I do however do mile long highway wheelies, does anyone know if these bikes starve for oil when in the wheelie postion for awhile?

Re: Gixxers Are Junk!!!!!!!!!!!

dont get me started, you know where i stand, how many times did i ride beside you during long *** standups before the pickup tube, so the damage was already done before the tune, my bike has over 30000 miles on it and i still havent done the valves or anything, the only thing that has went wrong was one of the fork seals blew, and you know how i am on my bike, but i stay on top of my maintance, so dont be hating on the bike, i have seen hondas blow up with less miles, depends on how you treat your bike, they are high reving motors, you cant treat them like they are a lawnmower.

Was looking at the fiche for your bike, by the looks of it it will have starvation problems as well but the design and placement of the pickup seems as if it wont be as bad as the younger years. I have a 2000 they dont even make a pickup for it I am trying to design one now but that aside it gets ridden on one wheel the entire time and its heart still beats hard at 20000 miles

getting 12 k on a stunt peice is serious business for 1 they were meant to be ridden on 2 wheels not 1 and second it doesnt really matter good motor bad motor thats all bull how many times do we all take our bike out start em up do a good rollin burn out to heat the tires then procede to beat on them over heat them smash bash and crash them tearing **** up is all part of the game and it has to be written off every bike has problems just like cars

The harder you ride the less time you'll have your bike. (without problems)

Re: Gixxers Are Junk!!!!!!!!!!!

01' 1000 here.... +27k on the clock, oil change every 25hundo. Valvetrain getting noisey.... I'm sure there are bikes for stunting better than others, and bikes made on Wednesdays and Friday. Only complaint was the subframe mounts broke from the first gen FI cage. Custom cage now..but I'm going to soon jump on the F4i bandwagon.

Re: Gixxers Are Junk!!!!!!!!!!!

EVERYTHING is related to how you care for it. you could change your oil after every ride, but be on the limiter constantly, overheat it, pretty much everything common in stunting, and you'd still not have a long living bike.

its stunting, not driving like grandma to the store for some milk. if you really expect any bike, regardless of make model or anything else to last, you have to keep it on two wheels, change the oil regularly and not be bouncing off the rev limiter constantly.

dont hate on the brand. Suzuki is just as good as Honda, Kawi, or Yamaha. but I prefer the Hondas after my 87 ZX1000A2 threw the #2 rod out of the engine case.
