Re: Sponsors v.s Skills!!

In a perfect world the best riders would get everything.

I look a corp. sponsors just as businessmen who just want someone to represent there company to help advertise and bring more money to them, and if a stunter approaches a sponsor and sells himself to them then that's it.

I don't think having the best technical skills matter to them, mostly cuz they have no clue, all they see is wheelies, stoppies and burnouts, and riders that are competing at large events giving them advertisement opportunities.

I'm pretty sure it being the end of the year, the Teach list could get some $ sponsors if they put fourth the effort and sold themselves to the corporate jerkoffs.

Re: Sponsors v.s Skills!!

people that can talk will always get noticed, being able to carry yourself in a professional manner and having a "character" will always get you noticed. They want someone thats flashy and has a pretty bike more than someone that straight murders it.

Re: Sponsors v.s Skills!!

It also depends on what the sponsors may be looking for as well. We have a range of riders we sponsor 7 total now. Bill D, T-Neck, Josh Clem, Drastic Dan, O-Town Tony, Drew, and a few others.

We have different levels of sponsoring as well from cost on parts to full blown sponsorship. We look for guys coming as well or just getting in the sport. Out of all of riders only 2 had a big name for them self Bill D and Josh Clem.

As for your post Teach has some sponsor Argocycles, HAI, and some others. I think Gary just has HAI. I don't think it's the sponsors fault though for not getting the good guys, they have to go to the sponsors and go after it if they don't they will never have it. Also a lot of riders ride for the sport more than for the money and sponsors.

We have done things I don't think a lot of sponsors have done in this sport as a "shop". We have given FULL sponsor ships that even include a 3 bed room house, to every part you could think of to clothing, gas, fees at shows win or lose, the list goes on. We do it all under our full sponsorships and thats hard to find now days.

Just my 2 cents from the sponsors side of things. BTW we do have some spots left open if your good..

Re: Sponsors v.s Skills!!

im not gonna say that i deserve to be in mags or be sponsored and thats because i dont commit myself to that kind of ****, even tho it would be nice to have a few magazine shots, but i commit myself to my riding, and doing the occasional local show or competition, thats it.....but i will say that there is a lot of undeserved recognition/sponsorship out there

Re: Sponsors v.s Skills!!

i think it also has to do with how many shows or contest you actually do , i know alot of riders that dont really care about sponsors too much and do it just for fun and kill it! but for those who take the time to travel for shows etc mostly have sponsors , i mean whats the reason for a sponsor to even sponsor somebody ..... so they can show off their product in front of hopefully large crowds , but i will say it does have alot to do with who you know and who you roll with ! but i will agree there are alot of **** *** riders who get too much credit !!!!!! Good luck to all but some deserve ot more than others ! ! ! two fingas !

im pretty sure they can they just dont feel like it..

i'm pretty sure a handful of guys would risk crashing at that speed IF they were on Discovery Chanel TV and not just somewhere in a parking lot.

Re: Sponsors v.s Skills!!

darius must have just gotten the new 2 wheel tuner issue with the teknic add with D-mann in it

hahaha

its all about being a salesman...

I choose not to build people up on what I can do and it probably costs me some things too

some prefer to let thier reputations speak for themselves

I think Kane and Jason actually do things for thier sponsors, but it definately does not hurt that they both live/lived in LA

it just sucks when you see people get the hook up because they are at the right place at the right time, or they know so and so who knows so and so who produces a TV show

but it aint really **** to ***** about though.. you can never help **** like that

Re: Sponsors v.s Skills!!

I Think It Has To Do With The Area's These People Live In And Their Market. It Also Has To Do With The Company's P.r. Personel, If You Hired A Stunter To Hire Other Stunters The Results Might Not Be So Frustrating. Maybe Sponsors Should Start Throwing Events With Sponsorship As Prizes, That Would Ensure They Are Putting Their Name On The Top Riders. There Is A Total Of 6 Stuntriders In My Whole City, We Arent Too Worried About It.
