It's come to my attention over and over that some of the most sponsored riders have the least skills!! Why is this happening? Are these sponsors dumb? Do they just not care? When I see someone in a magazine add that straight up sucks *** damn I get frustrated! Not for myself cause I got a add or 2 here and there, but for the riders I see on here and videos that straight kill ****. Now if I was a sponsor which I might be someday you better believe I'm gonna do my own homework and find the kid who's murdering **** and make him known and get credit for doing so. Not take the easy way out and get the guy people already know! Here's my list of most sponsored riders who's skills are lacking the most. I'll put them in order as I see fit!!

Bottom line is some people spend more time trying to make thier proposal than they spend riding and really getting **** on lock. I mean if you cant even do a 180 stoppie to wheelie, the basis of stunting why should I sponsor you is what I would say! And I'm not just talking about you Kane. Seems these sponsors in this sport want a spokesperson-model for thier gear, not a real stunna who knows how to ride. Any thoughts?

but i have seen alot of jasons video's... he show's some clean *** skillz though man, i just think his style is wild..... kinda like kanes.

BUT i am not a stunter, and i probably dont know what i am looking at most of the time..... well until i learn it myself, then i guess i would have a trained eye.

 

go to a show and watch teach ride then you will see clean. It makes the rest look like poop

 

because the average crowd, or customer isn't going to know the difference.. Someone can kill circle combo's, and the crowd might clap, someone does a stand still burnout they go ballistic. So the flashy rider in their eyes is a better person to sponsor then someone who has technical skills. Know what I mean? And there are tons of no names that are straight nasty... at stuntwars last year, Lin from az on the black r6 doin spreader 0's, u gave him some videos n ****.. he doesn't even have any sponsors.

 

A business perspective? They are the ones consistently putting themselves in front of people. Getting sponsors is easier if you don't wait for them to approach you. You approach them, and market yourself like a ****. In the "get a lot of sponsors" arena, get a lot of attention, take the magazine articles, photos, flyers for events, a promo disc, whatever you have and hit the streets.

Skills win competitions, sponsorship is a quid pro quo joint business venture.

 

+ most of the people that are going to post here havent been to a show and have only watched on line vids and stuff. Videos dont show how they ride 99% of the time. The people on D's top 5 could make a video with parctice footage

 

agreed...can I get down on the list of people who need some ads haha....cause just wait.....the next shows if your skills are lacking Im gonna make you look like a fool.....bottomline ......so dont show up

They just want someone who can SELL their products. Someone like Kane is an "on the edge" rider w/ some popularity......people like that. The "up and comer" kid isn't as well known, which won't sell as much product. Granted, he may be "the man" in a year or so, but that doesn't sell product.

 

trust me... i know the difference between smooth, and irratic. i have been watching this industry for too many years, not to know who has serious control. what i was saying was what crtchrktrcr just validated, i am one of those guys.... but then again, i still know what i am looking at... not being a stunter myself, seeing all you guys do this is awsome.... but i have seen darius riding in person, that is about the smoothest i have seen manuvers done... well teach is an exception, that man is killer..... then i have also seen bullo in person, sometimes he is choppy and looks wild. but that is what draggs attention, someone who looks like they are having a time with the bike. i.E. kane, bullo, jason, etc. they make it look exciting, like they are close to crashing.

darius, and others, are so damn smooth it is like watching the ice-capades have you ever seen ice skaters... they look like they aint having any fun, and are going over it all in their head. darius does add some entertaining **** to his runs so he balances it out.
