I'm honestly curious what it means to have top of the line skillz?
I don't necessarily agree with skillz and sponsorship having to be combined... it is all about how your promote yourself, marketing is key.. and how you go about doing it... but the names you listed darius... I don't agree with all of them not having skill... but I still don't really know who D-mann is... hahaha, jk. and pauly? you're right... I have no respect for that man... todd colbert... didn't know he still rode! haha... but those three.. I don't even compare them to you guys...i kinda see them as the old school class...
Darius, I'm not sure why you posted this thread... when I've kinda studied your career in stuntriding and success.. and I was under the impression you had some pretty good sponsors, you were doing well in the industry... you are very well known... ?? I know I don't know EVERY little thing... but I think I know enough...
so posting this? does this mean you're not doing so hot? this isn't the only thread like this from you... I've seen some other complaints about stuff going on about ya... come on bro, whats up man? you shouldn't be posting these types of threads???
Darius- you're definitely one of a kind.. and you have a sick style... and yeah you have talent... no denying that... and you can be a sweatheart too if you want to be.. but it's rare! lol... i see a lot of other upcoming stunters wanting to mimic you... the gangsta blingin look... with the 40inch rims! and the high balla toys... maybe you're aiming for the wrong type of sponsors?
Kane - he gets what he deserves, simple as that... i keep seeing people hating on him about his discovery channel stoppie... I think it's freakin sick that he was able to do it on tv... which placed an open scenario for people to try to beat... so people think they can beat the record... of course! That was the purpose of it... records are to be ?BROKEN! but he set the bar on tv first... oh no let's hate! ???? I know it doesn't mean much coming from a squid girl stunter.. but i'm proud of him... got the punk rock look, that is pretty popular nowadays... it works!
Jason Britton - what? doesn't have skill to back up his sponsorships??? who the hell are you kidding??? Excellent business man... persistant and great showmenship... helped more people in the industry than i know of anyone else, shares the wealth, and inspiring... tell me why exactly he doesn't deserve his sponsors? The all-american good family guy! VERY marketable!
again, what is your defition of skill then? cause I see you all have skillz! just in different style so correct me if I'm wrong!?!
so the people you listed that deserve sponsorships... yeah they doo.. buuut... not only do they need skillz in riding.. but they need the skillz in marketing, promoting, and business...
Teach- murderin it... how well does he promote himself though, I dont know, but I'm curious, does he go after sponsors? does he even want them? I'm honestly asking because I don't know?
Jason Pullen- that guy is the biggest sweetheart ever! and he is trying for a pretty hard sponsorship to aim for... harley? stuntriding? waht?! that doesn't mix very well! haha, persistancy Jbling!! don't give up! I love ya!!! and who makes stunt parts for those bikes anyways? He's going for an extremely hard direction... but it's gotta be possible for some type of sponsorships... just gotta find em...
Luxury joe- the foot peg stealer!! hahha... is he too luxurious to promote himself? haha again how well does he promote himself
or are you all just waiting for sponsorships to come knocking on your door?
it's common busines knowledge as to what sponsors want from riders... "what are you going to do for me?"
ya gotta work for what ya want... you get what you deserve... That's the biggest lesson I have learned.. you gotta feed yourself... work for yourself... you gotta wipe your own ***... and flush the toliet too! hahahaha
that was a metaphor for those of you that didn't konw
(please don't ruin this thread by hating on me...) I really care about all of you guys... and I still consider all of you guys my family and good friends... even though you all hate each other to some degree...

Not for myself cause I got a add or 2 here and there, but for the riders I see on here and videos that straight kill ****. Now if I was a sponsor which I might be someday you better believe I'm gonna do my own homework and find the kid who's murdering **** and make him known and get credit for doing so. Not take the easy way out and get the guy people already know! Here's my list of most sponsored riders who's skills are lacking the most. I'll put them in order as I see fit!!
Pauly LVX
DMANN
Todd Oldbert
Jason Britton
Kane
Now here some riders with the most skills and least sponsors who murder **** daily!!
Teach
Jason Pullen
Gary
Chrisiz
Luxury Joe
I know there is more riders for each list but this is what comes to mind
Bottom line is some people spend more time trying to make thier proposal than they spend riding and really getting **** on lock. I mean if you cant even do a 180 stoppie to wheelie, the basis of stunting why should I sponsor you is what I would say! And I'm not just talking about you Kane. Seems these sponsors in this sport want a spokesperson-model for thier gear, not a real stunna who knows how to ride. Any thoughts?

Re: Sponsors v.s Skills!!
Being able to market yourself is prolly the most important thing.
D-mann has been around since the beginning and why wouldnt a "Sponsor" want to have someone that Is probably more well known than 90% of the people on stuntlife will ever be, busting combo circles till the fat lady sings! That says something on it's own!
With such a growing sport you have to wonder how many emails and or media packages these companies get! Look at freestyle MotoX, most people could mabey name a handfull of Sponsored
riders and i could probably bet there is alot more freestyle X riders then stunters.
Personally i don't think it's fair to include any of the OG's to the list, they all put in there time at one point for the sport.
Holla Blox! "wink1100"
Just my 2 cents.

Re: Sponsors v.s Skills!!
WOW!!! This is some interesting stuff.... Sponsors are definitely not going to knock on your door. Whether anyone likes it or not, this business has a lot of sales in it. If you don't know how to sale yourself then you better start picking up that phone and calling someone to represent you to do so.
Stuntriding has come a long way and its about time people start taking it to another level as far as sponsors go. You want big sponsors like Kane, D-Mann, or Jason Britton, then start doing as they did. 2 out of those 3 people have AGENTS: someone who represents them professionally to do all their contracts, phone calls, meetings, etc. Yes, this AGENT will take a cut, but they will do the technical work that you can't do as far as selling yourself. I know Kane on a personal level and that guy worked very hard to get his sponsors. Whether you want to call it, kissing *** or doing his homework, he did it himself. I was there when HE built his site. I was there when HE typed up his resume. I was there when HE made a sponsor proposal. HE did all his technical work and then HE went out to every event and show to let BIG COMPANIES know that HE was the guy to sponsor over anyone else.
I get pretty good compensation from the sponsors I have. WHY? Cuz I went out and sold myself. I am not the best technical stunter, but I let sponsors know that my involvement in the stunt industry will help get more product out there and their name out there. ITS ALL ABOUT SELLING. If you can't do it, get someone to do it for you. It will cost a little money, but if you think you deserve it that much, then thats what needs to be done....
There are many stunters out there that deserve big things. Remember that there are many BIG COMPANIES that can sponsor riders too. Bottom line, there is enough wealth for all stunters that want to make something of this sport, but you have to put in the work on the pavement and in the office!!!

Re: Sponsors v.s Skills!!
theres many different angles this can be viewed at.
yes darius has a serious and valid point which i do agree with.
but being flashy and popular i'm sure is something sponsors definitely like and dont always care about skill. just like that popular guy in school that gets all the b1tches and you know you are 10x better of a person than he will ever be.

Re: Sponsors v.s Skills!!
we all play the same sport but we all wont reach the same level of success,
the people who got it were either really lucky
or worked really hard to achieve what they have.
so far i am working vey hard to acheive my skill and the shows i have done were cause i talked my *** off then showed what i caould do either they thought it was great or they werent interested.
by day i work on aircraft and when im not doing that im riding riding riding....
my personal goal is to do every trick with style ride with or against all the "top" stunters.
what im doing to achieve this ride ride ride
i have an account budgeted for my bike parts/travel.
if i pick up sponsors...great! if not im still gonna have a great time while im still alive doing something i believe in and am passionate about.
i been riding for like i yera and 7months to the date.
2007 is the year i would like to compete and have fun being a rockstar stunter.
if i get squashed then i'll practice harder and longer.
in the end we can only do this for so long but i would like to see it last 4 ever.
"stunting"
to some a bragging right
or life style
or hobby
or whatever
the ones who are or will be sponsored...congrats!
to those who want but wont get it, i am sorry.
<b>time for my plug...
yo bullo i sent an email to tyger shark and his email didnt work
i need that cage sponsorship !!!
