Can't clutch up certain ( new) bikes? WTF?

I was ready on a knee dragger site and they brought this up as someone was talking about stuntin.

I read some stuff and don't have too much knowledge on this yet.

OK the thing is new bikes. They were talking about the new bikes that don't have slipper clutches. So what's the big difference when you clutch it up versus the new stuff?

Check out a few posts...

-------
guy 1) i have a question for ya, why do you have a slipper clutch, do you race that bike also or something

guy 2) 06 GiXXers come stock w/ slipper clutches

guy a) i got learn my clutch up technique ( 06 gix 600)
guy b) Your bike doesn't have one. (slipper clutch)

dude.... morons think what they want to be true. i have my 06 r6, and it woolies just like anyother bike... you even get back tourqe with it. the only difference that you will notice, is that the slipper clutch wont let the rear wheel hopp on abrupt downshifting. you still get all the backtourqe you recieve on all other motors and clutches, you just wont get the motor fighting the decel, and making the wheelhop while it is trying to match the speed.

tell those idiots to shut-up, and do some woolies, or track the **** outtof em.

If you have a slipper clutch, ride at about 40mph.. click it in first and pop the clutch w/the throttle closed. You can see what the "slipper clutch" does.

Re: Can't clutch up certain ( new) bikes? WTF?

slipper clutch is for down shifting to stop the rear locking up.

if it wouldnt let you wheelie then it wouldnt let you make fast starts from the lights or give it a big hand full of gas, cuz it would slip right???

GP bike got the best slipper clutches out there and they still wheelie:YEAH

why is it that people think slippers won't let you clutch up......i've heard this more than once. i've never personally ridin a bike with one so now i have a question, how much free spin do you get out of a slipper if you drop a couple of gears really fast??

Re: Can't clutch up certain ( new) bikes? WTF?

I also have an '06 r6. No problems clutching it up at all (stock gears). I've heard a lot of people complain about the new r6's,I love the bike. In fact Ican't really tell the differance in the clutch except downshifting at higher rpm's is smoother. But I've still had the rear tire break loose durring hard downshifts just like a regular clutch. No noticable differance for wheelies though.
On a sad note (for me anyways) I low sided my bike last night. Hit some sand in a corner going about 35-40. Fortunately the bike isn't too bad. The bar end, frame slider and engine cover (left side) took the brunt of the damage. Just a couple of scuffs on the plastic. Good thing was I wasn't going too fast bike slid about 60ft and then hit a dirt banking on the other side of the road. I never even saw the sand or realized i was going down Just lean in and next thing I new I was in full slide. In 14 yrs. riding I've never had that happen before. Totaled 2 bikes (hit by cars) but never went down cause of sand.
Sorry to get so far off topic but since I was already wrighting figured I might as well keep going.
Anyway, new bike, slipper clutch clutches up great! :YEAH

Re: Can't clutch up certain ( new) bikes? WTF?

yeah, i dont get it why idiots think that a slipper clutch cripples wheelies. that **** has nothing to prevent you from getting the power to the ground, all it does is limit wheel hop on hard downshifts, at high rpm's.... you probably shouldnt be droppin the shifts at such high reps, without a rev in the first place. i never had problems with my 03', which i herd was whorable when dropping gears. i had my rear wheel slide side to side maybe once on downshifts, cause i didnt give it a rev.

Re: Can't clutch up certain ( new) bikes? WTF?

Yea, I was sort of wondering. I've never ridden a "new bike". My bike is an 04 gix 1000 and 05 is where they started putting the slipper clutches in. After reading a bunch of posts by people over there i started to wonder if they were not doing it right. I explained to them and further explained that I can't do mine right now b/c I have a shtty dry rott or something tire and the ***** keeps spinning out on me.

But other than the tire I can get'em up no probs. I can however clutch it up while standing on the rear peg but I am not used to it and drift a little or wobble. That's just the rears though. If I stand on the normal front pegs I have no needs to clutch it up...

So basically, as I thought before, the deal is to prevent donwshift roughness. Has NOTHING really to do with slipping the clutch to pop it up... So I have no freakin idea what these guys are talking about.... Well, thanks for the ammo. I will venture into the knee-dragger site with my own knowledge and the blessings of thy stunnas...
